Terrible? I think that *may* be hyperbolic. I've watched the reviews and photos coming out, and so far I'm seeing the common HT phenomenon of a likeness that comes and goes with lighting and angles.

It's not a homerun but the rendering isn't 'terrible', leaving it up to the personal discretion of the buyer. Some people are good with a recognizable rendering, others want a dead-on version.

The shine on the body is what raises questions for me; it seems more or less pronounced in different shots.

Not ready to call it 'terrible' at this juncture. It may be ... 'sub-optimal'*?

*Splitting hairs is my *real* hobby. ;)

Yea, its called an opinion. If you like it, good for you and I respect your opinion.

LOL okay I will wait. Everyone has different likes/dislikes so its cool people like the figure. I think what put me off this figure was seeing their training WW sculpt. HT could have done way better with this one.

Oh no, of course. Either you like it, or you don't, as with any figure. Just as you like the TA sculpt way better (I think it's a near perfect likeness also), I guarantee you there's someone who thinks this sculpt bears a better likeness than the TA one and prefers this over that one. However, from what I've seen on this forum, there's usually a knee jerk reaction both when a prototype figure gets released and when the final product comes out where people nit pick, then once people start receiving the figure in hand, the tide changes and people start thinking that it's a great figure and that the sculpt actually looks better in hand than what they initially thought it did just based on photos.

I understand. Thank you for being helpful! Ill definitely keep watching the thread for in-hand pics.

No worries.

The most recent instance of this being with the GotG Drax in the Marvel section. The body is undersized so when the initial final product pictures were shown, you would have thought it was the worst figure HT has ever released based on a lot of the comments. Then people started receiving it in hand and while people still thought the body was indeed lacking, the consensus basically turned into well...um...I mean I guess it's ok, it's not that terrible. It looks a lot better in hand.

Like guyver mentioned earlier, same thing happened with TFA scavenger Rey figure.

I think Budget Stark said that the Korean team worked on the Training version, which explains why the sculpts look so different.

For your reference. Someone upload on fb..

Someone photoshopped the training head on this figure..IDK..not feeling it :dunno

Something looks off but it's still looks way more like Gal than the current one.

Right now the training version is only a prototype. The release is in like one year.
So these official photos are just a look at how HT thinks it might look in the end. That doesnt mean that it will turn out exactly like that.

Yes I know I have already addressed that issue about training sculpt might end up looking worse than the proto. What I am saying is that since they got the expression right on the proto without messing up the teeth then I don't see why the final product can not turn out the same in that regard.

The teeth looked way better on the WW prototype head

That was the only thing that looked better and I don't think the reason they look worse on the product is because they simply can't do it. I think it has more to do with their inexperience at sculpting that expression for this character or they didn't think the overbite would be such a huge issue.

and its not the first time that prototype pictures are looking better than the actual final product.
I know a bunch of HT Star Wars figures that dont look like the first official pictures.
In fact most of all the prototype pictures (doesnt matter which company - Mezco, Play Arts Kai, HT ...) are looking better than the final product.

BvS WW does not fall into this category because they changed the face completely.

No they didn't , they just changed the shape of the jawline and expression on the mouth, and tweaked some areas like the eyes other than that it is pretty much the same sculpt because they didn't change the proportion of the face as it still looks too elongated.

And we dont know if the training version will look like it does on the photos that we have right now.

No we don't but that doesn't mean it won't either.

.

I'd still take this sculpt

Over this PT anytime

So hope they don't reverse it on the final product of the training sculpt

Yeah it's clearly better than the proto even if does have an overbite.

Do you think the TA proto sculpt has an overbite as well? At least to me, the mouth expression on both sculpts look the same. :dunno

The mouth to me sort of matches this, which to me looks accurate:

I'm really trying to see it, but I'm just having a hard time seeing what the big fuss is over the mouth myself. I really don't see anything terrible with it.

Looks like you can take the strap off which is good so you can adjust the look on the body

This looks very close to being spot on to me. :dunno

Everyone is entitled to their opinions of course; you either like it or you don't, simple as that. However, I can't help but think that some people are going to try find something to malign about it, regardless of how good it looks.

I'm telling you, I can't wait until everyone has this in hand and it becomes the greatest thing since sliced bread and the sculpt is wonderful.....:lol

Thats what happened with Rogue Leader Luke....

Thats what happened with Rogue One Luke....

R1 Luke I don't recall it happening with, but I'm sure it'll probably happen with TFA Luke.

Did you perhaps mean the SSC Rogue Group/Snowspeeder Luke? Because yes, it happened with that Luke as well. :lol

Great articulation even if it can't stay that way for a while

It can be done

The guy is switching it out with a phicen ..not sure it is wise, not crack over time

....are you sure he's merely attempting to demonstrate the articulation and not...? Nevermind.

Good articulation.

Always find it slightly disturbing seeing figures undressed like that. :lol
I'm not gonna risk a really articulated pose when she gets here. Just have her standing with her shield and sword battle ready, flanked by Batman and Superman.
