agreed josh. loved this flick. it was not the pooper evryone was saying it was. but i guess we all agree to disagree. totally getting perseus! please hot toys, make a pegesus :)

Well, I went in expect pretty much what I got. An action flick that was a nice escape for two hours. I'll consider getting this and watching this was thinking how much I'd like to see HT do a Maximus figure from HT.

But that's my point,
in the end, his "normal man" bit didn't hold water because if not for the help of the gods he would have majorly failed.

I don't think it was a pooper but it wasn't as solid as the original.

Well, him wanting to do it with some help went the way we knew it would. I don't think him using the stuff killed that aspect though. I think it showed that for all his good intentions he did need some help. That its ok to not be afraid of who you are. Plus in the end he didn't go to be a god but stay a man and help out.

Never been a big fan of the original though. So I kind of like this one better.

Not impressed....This is just some Ctrl + c,Ctrl + v by Hot Toys....Marcus Wright head + comedian body....

Hot Toys does not re-use head sculpts of any particular actor for different (human) characters. I doubt they'd start now. It'd be a bad precedent. And I don't see what's so bad about using the Wolverine/Comedian body if it works for this character. And we can tell it's not completely the same body, just look at the neck. The upper torso could be different. And perhaps even the legs.

The medusa head looks freakin sweet... The head looks like Marcus Wright Head..

Dont be lazy Hot Toys... Give us two heads please!

I think they just rushed a quick pic due to the movie coming out...

The wolverine/comedian body is great....nothing wrong with that....but the sculpt seems exactly the same TS-MW...
I'll wait for the official pics....but so far looks like a simple parts re-use with little improvments....
I'm expecting more, you know HT spoiled me :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

aside from the head, what is wrong with using the same body? Every other company uses the same body over and over again. At least HT has multiple bodies to choose from. Its a bit arrogant to think we need a new body for every release.

The costume is new, the accessories will be new, the boots will be new...even if they reuse the head this is not a copy/paste overall.

i saw the movie today..
incredible..the medusa needs some work thought.. they changed her a little from what was originally shown in the stills ....
i look forward to this figure big time..

I own the Blu-Ray of the original, and I love the movie because it's part of my childhood, but if we are being honest it's not aged well.
It even looked a little dated for 1981. The Medusa and Kraken scenes are still classic though

I think that this figure will look a whole lot better when we see the specs and pics... This teaser-picture is just one pic from one angle. And I get the idea of recreating the movie poster, but somehow this isn't the best angle for showing us this figure IMO.

It was the same with Aldo Raine. The teaser pic wasn't what I expected but when the specs and pics finally got posted I liked the look of the figure a whole lot more.

I hope that's the case with this figure too :)

As I said before this could be the reverse of the Dark Knight Batman DX preview. New body old head as apposed to new head old body.
The final product of the Dark Knight came out a lot different to the preview. And no I'm not talking about the oil

I wouldn't blame them for re-using that Terminator sculpt. It was a nice sculpt and it's the same dude with the same haircut.

I'm torn on this one. I think the simplicity of the costume would make for a very fun figure, but the flip side of that is feeling like I'm overpaying for the Hot Toys price.

If it's the same sculpt I call fail. HT stuff costs way too much for something as important as a HS to see reuse.

Having said that it wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying it since I don't own a Marcus figure. But it might end up a little too bland looking for the character. This is one instance where I wouldn't mind seeing a more dynamic facial expression.

But would you want to buy the same sculpt again? I certainly wouldn't, not for HT prices.

Even if it were a new sculpt (which it probably is), how different would it look? Like I said before, same dude, same haircut.

The blu-ray quality is all over the place isn't it? great though, fun to see all the dodgy matte lines and plate mixing.
Love it, part of my childhood too.:D

Yeah I see what you mean. Maybe this is just a temporary sculpt or something and they might have a screaming or more dynamic one in the works...

Yeah but they could pick a million different poses/facial expressions.
They copied the poster for the pose but the head doesn't match. Any of the promo pics have been "hard" gritty shouts and screams. He looks like he is calmly looking forwards. Like marcus in TS, oh wait it is.

And that sculpt is the Marcus sculpt as far as I can tell.

LAZY.

MASSIVE FAIL.

In my experience, most folks throw a fit if headsculpts don't have neutral expressions (Leonidas being the exception to the rule).
