I can see that, just giving it as an example. I just don't understand releasing the same head from a different movie. I really thought that preview pic was a joke that someone had thrown together for aprils fool.
Looks awful, thats just a photoshopped Marcus head, first time in ages I have seen a new HT product and gone..thats just ____.

I'll have to see the movie, but I think I'm gonna pass.
I'll be picking up Medusa's head at least when these get parted out.

The figure looks great - love the armor and Medusa head. Although that is probably Marcus Wright. I'm sure the actual Perseus will be a whole new head.
Yeah, I just watched the Blu-ray too - boobies in a PG movie - those were the days! But otherwise, it was pretty embarrassing, although I have fond memories of the film originally. I rewatched Tron recently too - man that film sucked.

From what i see so far, this figure looks great if its around the $140 range that is.
And to all the whiney poo poo faces, I am sure this would atleast be a tweaked Marcus head if that is the same sculpt they modified, the hair looks shorter and different and weathering etc, its a fine sculpt anyway so its good in my book, i mean SSC reused sculpts for some figures right? and it worked out alright.

just got back from seeing the film. i must say I enjoyed the movie a lot. While i do think the original is better by a slight margin, this is an awesome flick. I like what i see of the figure so far, especially that Medusa head.
I figure they just rushed this teaser out since CotT came out today. Just a little "we haven't forgotten" type of thing. So the Marcus head is probably just that, Marcus' head. I'm sure we'll get a Perseus one too (or two ).

I just can't imagine that HT would use the same sculpt. They have never done that before for different characters played by one actor. I'm willing to bet that they hurried out the preview pic in order to coincide with the movie's release. If that's the case, then I really really think poorly of their timing and decisions. It just leads to a lot of knee-jerk reactions from individuals who aren't capable of reason.
What is worse: putting out a preview pic weeks after a movie releases or putting out a preview pic containing what is ostensibly an old sculpt? It just seems so...ill-conceived -- especially after all the heat they've been getting this year so far.

A manufacturer shows us a crap product, and we say thats crap?
That preview is the worst thing I have seen from HT.
Quite rightly it's getting a pretty bad response.

how is it "crap" though? The costume is spot on. The head sculpt, while possibly a duplicate looks like the actor and is painted well. "Crap" is a ridiculous exaggeration.

All I'm saying is that a little benefit of the doubt is in order. No one here can confirm if A)It really is the Marcus sculpt, B)That what HT has shown is the final sculpt, and C)much anything else about the figure. Also it's worth noting again that HT has never re-used the same sculpt for different characters based on one actor. I don't know why I have to keep saying that.
Your argument that this is a crap figure is predicated on your presumptions and dislike of their supposed re-use of the same Marcus sculpt...but we don't know that for sure. If not that, then you don't like it because it's a neutral expression, which is fair critique. But, I would hope for two heads, and HT might just give that to us. WE DON'T KNOW YET. Well I think it looks like crap. The smaller cheap plastic Perseus action figure looks better than that. Obviously when I say that I am giving my opinion. I expect impressive collectibles from HT. I don't find a single part of that preview impressive. Perhaps you have a different set of standards than me?

I appreciate that it's your opinion, but may I ask exactly what you find unimpressive about it (aside from your perceived re-use of an existing headsculpt) compared to the source material it's based on?

No way, i have the Neca one and its cool but, the details in the chest plate are very dull and rounded off which is not how its supposed to look, Hot Toys did a much better job overall on the outfit compared to Neca.
The Hot Toys one should have rope or whatever on the round disks tied down on the shoulder pads though, we will have to wait and see.

I'm not presuming anything, I'm commenting on an officially released pic of the figure from HT? Ok? They have released it and folk are responding to this crap image. Yes crap Imho.
Of course, the final sculpt and figure may be amazing, I certainly hope so. And that is the Marcus headsculpt, I know because I have it in front of me.
