Hot Toys Darth Vader : tips , tricks and any other mods

It's pretty close the hot toys Vader 1/6 compared to the full size darth Vader helment used in the film ANH
I've compared it to the efx full size helmet and it looks good
I no it's not perfect with the nose plug and the mouth grill etc

Yes they look good on the shelf matrix and you won't believe the size of it, its massive
but there is a down fall it's really cheap plastic like a toy and it's too clean but you can weather it
EFX have done ok though to say They've mass produce them and quite affordable
I've seen the legend Vader fetch £2000 in past

I've got two full Vader leather suits if anyone wants to swap out on their figures. The three piece Hot Toys suit and the new Sideshow ROTJ three piece suit. I also have a set of Vader's hands from the Hot Toys figure that include the gauntlet parts that have not been attached. There is also a Hot Toys belt that have not been used batteries will be included. If anyone is interested drop me a pm. Hoping to let these go quickly.

For those interested here's the old SS ANH gloves that i modded. They won't fit over the cuffs of the HT suit without a little work as they're too narrow so the inner-wrist side of the glove is cut away and replaced with some thin black leather which is glued in place. I just bought a pair of those ANH sideshow vader gloves this morning off ebay. might have to try it out with the soft goods leather

After some research I found that Vader has nylon straps that hold his shin armor to his boots. It's nearly impossible to find and pictures of it. The only pic I could find was in my "Star Wars: Chronicles" book, and it's not great, you can make out two straps on the boot though. I found no pictures showing hardware, so so just went with what I could find, that I thought looked right.

I also made the shin armor glossy. It's about the only high gloss thing on his ANH armor.

Here's a quick list of what I did:

• Added thin silver scratches and weathering.
• Painted a clear high gloss coat.
• Added nylon straps, tabs and buckles.
• Painted the metal, strap hardware, black.

All that's left on the boots is to weather the leather and the souls, and the boots will be done.

I really like what you did with the straps, WTC. I'm thinking about doing just a simpler version just using some material similar to the boots. Anyone know where to get that kind of leather-like material that they use for the boots? Was thinking I would cut thin strips and glue them on, sort of how they did with the Rogue One boots.

Me too - but a nice alternative is just pad the existing body. I use any kind of fabric wrap. Filled out thighs, especially.

Out of curiosity does anyone have the new Hot Toys Rogue One Vader? I missed out on the HT ANH Vader but have pre-ordered the HT Rogue One Vader and will be here by the middle of the month. I've seen some of the improvements they have done in the style of the figure over ANH version but I was wondering if anyone already had the figure in hand and any mods they have done to it? Thanks in advance. Jase

I think so far the only mods have been swapping parts out. Mind you in saying that the majority had already carried out the nose mod as well as painting/ distressing their armour.

The R1 figure is solid, but needs padding in his legs/thighs. And mostly just glove swapping going on from what I can see.
