The best body I found is the GI Joe, Roadblock figure.

It requires cutting out some rubber from under the armpits, swapping the excessively bulky arms with the Hot Toys Vader arms.

You will also need to drill the ankle socket, up into the shin to get the Vader boots to attach properly.

I also removed the small ankle socket last from the bottom of the legs. If you do that his height is 100% perfect next to the other Hot Toys figures.

The R1 figure is solid, but needs padding in his legs/thighs. And mostly just glove swapping going on from what I can see.

Matt, Okay cool thank you. I actually have some padded underwear that I got off of the Subway Hero figure. Swapping the glove hands on the Rouge One Vader? Or you mean just extra wrist pegs for the glove hands? I did see where the R1 Vader had the belt and belt boxes weathered. Are the Helmets the same from ANH and R1 figures? I've watched the mod videos on YouTube which are brilliant. Actually that's what made me search out a Hot Toys Darth. Got lucky cause I found the R1 (which was sold out as a preorder everywhere) through MidTown Comics during their after Christmas sale. They had him with 8% off retail at $229.99 but then I used the iPhone app which saves you an extra 10-20% off your entire first purchase with them which brought him down to $205. Since I've shopped with them before, I created an account for my wife....she doesn't know it but she got herself an amazing deal on a HT Vader. Shipping is a bit over inflated but still was able to get him shipped for under $220.

The pics of everyone's Vaders here are amazing total Toy **** for me anyway. Literally haven't seen a bad pic. To me whether you have HT, SSC, or even the Medicom they all look incredible and some of the backdrops are stunning.

Thank you WTC ! I might just do that. I love your Vader figure and often find myself looking back to admire all of the mods that you've made to it. :)

Nice bod mod!

BTW, in regards to an ANH Vader mod build -- seems like HT's latest weathering on RO Vader's belt boxes and chest box are a big hit but when someone mentioned his boxes aren't really that dinged up I decided to check it out... and low and behold, they are not.

Evidence:

Also, if you'll notice in the last picture, the belt "buckle" is about the same size as the boxes -- so the smallish buckle with larger belt boxes on the RO would be incorrect for ANH Vader.

Yeah, there's some weathering but it's just slight. A lot of folks have taken their reference from the suit after it was taken on the road for premiers and various events, and as one might expect, it got a little more worn looking over time.

Which is which?

Interesting to see that (what I assume) is the RO boxes aren't that much bigger really, even though they look it from afar.

The light shapes on RO are definitely made for the upcoming ESB Vader though, as the ANH boxes more accurately reflect the shape of the lights in the movie (ANH) if you look at the stills.

It's those green lights that are really just bigger on RO. And the lighting is much brighter on them too, but I did have the impression that the boxes themselves were also a bit bigger.

Better more oriented picture

Top box is RO lower is ANH.

Left buckle is RO, right buckle is ANH.

The lights on the RO box are indeed brighter and the box is slightly larger. Also the "screws" are missing from the lid of the RO box. The silver mesh inside the rectangle on the RO is accurate to ANH.

Yes, the RO box is a match for ESB -- which had a smaller red light and two larger green rectangular lights.

The ANH boxes had smaller square green lights closer in size to the red. You can see that in the stills -- the lights are all close in size.

HT made this (the RO boxes) for re-use on ESB Vader.

Interesting that the buckle box is larger on the RO yet the silver "buckle" thing is smaller than the ANH. Box difference must be in height since they look the same in width -- hard to tell unless they are placed side-by-side.

Thanks for the picture.

I've been using the RO boxes/belt, but it's the one part that I've kept both versions of. Still undecided on which I'll ultimately prefer.

I doubt anyone would notice either way, but for those who want OCD accuracy :) That, plus the ANH boxes have the working red light that RO does not.

I mean if someone is going to lower the helmet a mere millimeter or sink a nose plug slightly deeper, then I think they should have the correct boxes as well.

From what I've seen, people are using the extra R1 gloves on their ANH (version 1) vader. It's a tight fit, but it works.

The lights in the belt boxes are just clear shaped strips of plastic with a couple of lugs or pegs at the bottom.(the red and green colours are just painted ) There must be a light source underneath that is evenly distributed along the plastic . I was investigating to see if I could light the red light on the RO boxes but may just opt for a red led instead.
