Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I have all seven of them ordered. Getting really excited to be getting this soon at the end of the month. I just couldn't believe how many IM figures I have in my collection already.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Hmm....Papercraft, or Hot Toys HOA?......nah I have the set of 7 PO already :)

https://paper.hol.es/get-the-papercraft/9-iron-man-hall-of-armor-paper-craft

Just crossing my fingers on QC issues. It shows in the directions that each HOA cube locks into the next HOA module. I'm hoping the circuit board inside each HOA module is good enough to transfer the electricity through each Module to the next Module to the end of the circuit. I wonder if the any of the modules would wear out any sooner because of the flow of electricity.

I would do some research on buying a good Power supply. Don't waste your money on a 5.00 wall wart. Buy a nice Ac/DC power supply that is rated over what is actually needed so the HOA modules don't have to work to push or pull electricity through their tiny circuit boards. You can actually degrade the circuit by not having enough DC power. The instructions show a 2amp rating. When I get mine I'm gonna actually test how much current 1 HOA module draws. Once I know that I will multiply times 7 and buy an A/C to DC power supply that has a buffer of about 2-4 amps. This way I can future proof myself. The Power supply will run much cooler. Remember Each module will only Draw what it needs. So if we buy a 10amp Power supply and all 7 Modules ONLY draw 4 amps then the 10amp power supply will not ever sweat or get hot. The tiny Circuits inside the HOA modules themselves wont have to work hard and will see a constant flow of Electrical goodness.....

I'm saying all of this because I would like to tie the HOA into my Home Automation system When I walk into the room I would like the HOA to illuminate and stay on for as long as I'm in that room. I kind of want to use this like I would a regular lamp and hoping Hot Toys used good quality long lasting LED's

:hi5: Ok done with my Post :wave

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I'll be wiring my HOA the same as you are Lotus. My plan is to rip them all apart once I get the set in hand and stuff the 7 bays into my workshop dio since they are not very accurate to the movie set. If the LEDs are hot or weak they will be replaced as I rebuild the bays and wire into my main display power source.

It just stinks to pay $799 retail for these and have to do that much work to it, but I would not be happy with this set otherwise. They look like a bunch of cheap plastic crap boxes as is straight out of the package. :lol

Got my last Flexpay notice for the 25th--shipping was HUGE for the set of 7 (almost $50!). These things better blow me away when I get them set up.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Let's bump this topic to the top today. With members getting Flex pay notice it must mean they are close to shipping. I have a PO in @ BBTS but don't know if I should go through with it. Right now I have a Backdrop of the HOA with my Mark's in front of the Picture to simulate the HOA diorama. I'm torn as to if I should move forward with the Pre order or cancel. I was kind of thinking that the HOA wont sell out and sit there like the Gantry did.

Thoughts ?

At this price, it won't.

It wouldn't surprise me to see it on clearance just like the gantry.

Here's hoping:pray:

So are any of you guys going to purchase the set, or just wait? Really trying to decide still. The good thing is I didn't have to pay a deposit so I'm not out anything....

Let me put it this way, would you spend 800 on this set, or spend 600-700 on a 1/4 scale PI Armor?

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I've ordered two sets of four! :cuckoo:

But I got them cheap from a European distributor - worked out less than £300 for the lot (about $470 for 8 booths)

Hmmmmm wonder if they'll ever actually ship........

Really up to you. Are these overpriced? Hell to the Iron Man Yes but that's Hot Toys for you. It's really up you which you think is more worth having. Personally if money isn't really an issue, I think having the full set of 7 is more impressive on display than having one 1/4 PI Iron Man figure. I'm not impressed with PI's work other than their proportions and $650 for one 1/4 suit is crazy.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Of all the items HT has released, I must say the edition size and the demand for this is probably the most unpredicatable item they have released in a while for me. There are the hard core IM fans that will buy this no matter the cost. However at $799, you really need to like iron man to lay the fat cash for these, given what they are.

My guess is that HT didn't make very many for the launch wave and the volume is made up mostly of the pre-order size. BBTS and other stores will see some cancellations as the hard decision is made. But I seem to remember BBTS only had like 75 or so units of the 7 piece and other e-tailer sites I visit frequently had less than 5 of these on average if one would like to guess edition size on that small sample.

HT could definitely produce more of these and make killer margin on them if they sell at $799. If these sell cold and get a coupon they will sell the first chance a discount is available me thinks. If a person has mark I-VII and the Tony Stark figure it will make the display and they will purchase the set if it is discounted. But who knows, we will find out soon.

I am getting a set of 7. But I am a iron man moron.:rotfl

I would get the 7 Bay over any single PI piece. Easy call for me but it is your money.

If anyone is wanting the 7 bay still at BBTS it is $739.99 and much cheaper shipping than anywhere else. Sideshow and other places are charging $50 bucks to ship it.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I have a set of seven on order. All bought and paid for since June.
I need somewhere to put my figures all together.

I don really think is a fair comparison tbh.

I'd much rather get a 1989 batmobile ( or any other vehicle type) , as I think it has more use than these.

BUT, having said that, I'm lucky enough to be able to get it anyway. I'm on my fourth flex payment ($170!) and yes, I'm having second thoughts. It was mostly an impulse buy, I saw the display at SDCC 13 and was blown away. Being smart with money doesn't mean you can just purchase something this expensive if you are not even sure about it.

As a casual IM fan, I'm debating weather or not I should cancel. I've never, ever canceled anything that had a NRD attached to it, so I'm sure SSC will work something out for me. Unless it's one of the mean ladies that apparently are having a bad day mon-fri.

I don't know what I'm doing yet.

Do you have all seven marks franpincho or were you going to use them for other figures?

Mark VII and all the others coming out. Not aiming for accuracy, but rather the cool factor.

Besides, prices on marks I-VI are through the roof. Too late to get them all.

This brings up another question do you place the HOA inside a Glass Case, put it on top of a Mantle or something where dust can accumulate?

Thanks guys for all your input. I will keep the BBTS PO because I do love the Iron Man armors. I cant wait to throw out my paper HOA picture and replace with am 800.00 masterpiece of Magic plastic. For anyone that doesn't have a Mark VI like me, has anyone though of putting the Silver Centurion inside the HOA? I wonder how many would notice, most people gravitate to the chest area and see the Triangle.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I have a corner built in unit down in my home theatre room to put up Tony's workshop and my batman stuff, however my mother in law and sister are visiting for the next week and it is now housing alot of my HTs.

I wasn't to worried about it until the HOA is coming out now and I need to get this finished so I can display all of my Iron Man goodies.:yess:
