Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Just got mine in. The only thing i would say is a fairly big disappointment is that not all the lights are powered by the power adapter. The side lights still require batteries to operate them. :(

Ahhhh that is lame. I can't wait for your review!!!

When will your review be up? Not quite understanding about what the power adapter lights up and what it doesn't. I will wait for your review
Thanks

I"m working on it all weekend and it should be up Monday.

There are a total of 3 areas of light. One is the overhead light (directly above the suits) and the background lights. That's one set. Another is a blueish light that is used to show off the holographic display on the clear acrylic in the very front. The power adapter (not included with the set) only powers those 2 sets of lights. There is a 3rd set of lights that is in the sidewalls. The pillars basically between the different compartments. Those are still battery operated and not powered by the adapter. It makes sense as they aren't apart of the full compartments. The walls remove to allow for other compartments to be attached to give you the full Hall of Armor. I guess it's not that bad of a thing because a lot of times, you don't see those pillars actually illuminated. Hope that helps make some sense.

Very good description, I fully understand. Can't wait for your review. We are all hoping the quality of each unit feels like its worth 125.
Thanks

Got my shipping notice today. Will get my set of 7 Wednesday!

Congrats! Where did you purchase from?

Preordered from Sideshow. My last flex payment was today but I wasn't expecting them to ship until next week. Probably getting the set only 2 days earlier than I hoped but after waiting so long that 2 days is a big deal to me. Now I just have to do a little display shuffling to make room.

It looks like mine is set to arrive on Wednesday. :rock

Thanks for the review Optibotimus. I made up my mind with it. It will be a pass for me. It's nice but overall I can do without it. I'm happy with my current display and I don't think it would fit in my display anyways. Great review I managed to watch all 20 mins of it at work lol.

My review is up. I made a thread for it so that it doesn't steer this thread off too much...

I'm sure this has been asked many times,
what is the total depth needed to display all seven?

Watched the review. I'm really still on the fence.

The way i see it(As i have the set of seven already bought and paid for), is that i was wanting them anyway.
I am just glad to watch these reviews and get excited for mine coming.
I have to say i am very much looking forward to having the set of seven on the top of my detolfs with the entire suit lineup in there, and Tony in front.
But if you *don't* already have it ordered...
I can see how you might not be fussed with getting it.
It's a big outlay. A *really* big outlay, especially for the suits to go inside.

I'd have to give a estimate when i get home. I can tell you the depth of just one case, but because they curve, it's a little harder to get an exact measurement for how much space you'll need.

I have it PO with BBTS for 739 plus about 25 shipping. They will most likely be the last to ship so I have time to make up my mind. I think they will look nice, but 765.00 nice....hmm.

I'm surprised with all your creative tooling you didn't build your own HOA.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I think building one would be cheaper and better if you have the skill to do so. You can simply build one and then have it casted as many times as you see fit.

The primary problem with resin casting is that the sillicone costs the most.
To make moulds for the HOA(Assuming i made my own masters, NOT recasting the HT ones), i'd likely have to spend more than $200 for moulds.
Granted that might seem cheap, but the resin would cost a lot too.
And as solid castings, they wouldn't light up.
Of course, if i started selling them, eventually it would work into profit.
But when HT are making them for $130, resin copies would be at least $70.
So it's not much cheaper.
