How close do you guys really think we are to having Hot Toys completely take over 1:6 licensing from Sideshow? I know POTA has been down and out for a few years, but some of the other lines are still kicking, like Star Wars which seems to do pretty well for Sideshow (probably the most profitable 1:6), would they really be willing to give that up?

I'm fine with it if they do. I've enjoyed Sideshow's work on these lines as much as anyone, but Hot Toys - that's a whole different league of 1:6 awesomeness - and if I have the chance to have a Hot Toys Chewbacca I could retire from 1:6 collecting completely satisfied (not that I would).

I know from reading the boards that Sideshow is moving away from 1:6, but have they given a reason why or made any statements about it?

Honestly, it does seem more and more likely especially with Hellboy (which Sideshow announced having the HB II 1/6 license) and now POTA. Only downside is the increased cost per figure, but you get what you pay for.

Indeed. BRING IT ON. :rock

Ape-o-nauts are a must!

Absolutely! But if they do that I hope we get Milo, too.

Maybe they could make a Cornelius and Zira but include a bonus swap-out Milo head with the Cornelius. That way those of us who want the complete set of 3 could just buy an extra Cornelius and use the Milo head. :lecture

Guess I'll just leave my old SSC ones tucked away in their boxes for the
time being - great news! here's hoping we get a Mendez...

That's very interesting news. I guess PotA is more popular in Asia than here.

If it's successful it could have the legs of the Aliens/Predator line.

As for an online HT forum - I think you're looking at it right now.

Wait, Asia is a Planet of the Apes market? I ask because thats been the steady reasoning for HT not to get the LOTR license.

I think it could happen. HT Hellboy figures were made under Sideshows license. I don't think they would take over 100%, but maybe the characters who are complex and are HT forte.

I'm happy for POTA fans but am shocked and dismayed this has more commercial viability than Firefly/Serenity.

So... given Hot toys history, we can expect them to do zira, and cornelious, and not much else ., right?

seriously though, I do hope hot toys releases more... complete lines from now on.
