But to me the movie was so terrible I would not feel right owning them, kind of like buying a Robocop 3 figure. Its essentially the same as the original release, but the baggage of that crap movie makes it a no go :lol

Come on, you can't tell me Bakers Monkeys didn't kick ass. The guy deserved a Oscar that year.

They looked great but that movie (to me) was such a major dissapointment I'd never buy anything from it. Problem is I was really looking forward to a badass remake with a director I really liked. Instead I got a steaming pile of monkey doo :lol

And Coco, you are now dead to me :lecture

What, is a ghost speaking... suddently I feel cold :lol

Arrgh... why do the dead taunt me so?!? What have I done to incur the wrath of the departed with bad taste?!? :huh

I am fully confident from the release wording that Hot Toys is doing the original film.
Hey!! Maybe they'll do something completely new. Like a Planet of the Apes "alternate versions" line. You know Cornelius with interchangeable Roddy head. Or maybe a first cast line with Paul Newman as Taylor, Edward G. Robinson as Zaius, James Brolin as Cornelius and Linda Harrison as Zira. And then don't forget Burt Reynolds as Brent.

:rotfl:lol

I was hoping that his version would follow the Boulle book closer... more of a society of Apes stagnated in the culture that they took over. If you haven't read the original book its really worth checking out, one of my favoret sci-fi reads :lecture

Yep, the book rocks. I was hoping the Burton version was going to be that way too, but it wasn't. But as Evilface mentioned, I still think Rick Baker did a phenomenal job on the makeup. :rock

Baker always does excellent work, from Octoman to his most recent endeavors. I don't think I would have even minded a true remake of the original with Baker's makeup, although I would love to see him try his hand at Chambers versions.

I'm suprised HT would bother picking this up. Unless there is a huge hidden market in Asia. Congrats to those fans of POTA though. Maybe LOTR can come back.

As far as HT taking over all 1:6th. I don't want that. They make a nice product for sure but having to pay $150 for any figure will quickly knock many folks out. People already ^^^^^ about SS current prices so I can't wait if HT does how things will go.

Apes is huge overseas. And, yes, folks ^^^^^ about SS prices getting higher, but I think Hot Toys quality is way better than what SS has been putting out. Not necessarily $150 worth better, but I'm anxious to see what they offer and at what price. :monkey5
