Is Hot Toys going to re-make previous Sideshow figures or are they going to complete the lines with missing characters?

I hope they don't use rubber for any of the leather details on the Apes.

And I liked most of what SS did with this line.

Love the Apes!

I guarantee you its the older films but if in some cruel twist of fate they went Burton I'd probably still by a Thade and Attar.

I just want HT to take Indiana Jones and Star Wars, then maybe I could get acceptable versions of the core characters from those films. (other than Clone Kenobi, not even the most recent releases have been acceptable) I was so disappointed with hugeheaded crappy-jacket Indy, and the cruddy Prometheus body. I know my opinion will be controversial, but for what Sideshow is charging now, I expect exactly right, not just "best version yet". I'm tired of settling. I mean, so yes, Sideshow finally adopted HT's cool way of making the head in skin-colored plastic and painting on the details (definitely my preference) but instead of HT-like quality, the plastic is shiny like he has a layer of vaseline on him, and his stubble is painted in hash-mark lines, like a sketch or something. No subtlety. With HT taking POTA, I may finally get a Zaius and Cornelius I can truly cherish.

I've been happy with most of SSC releases recently. $100 is a lot for a toy $150 is insane unless you're talking about figures like Iron Man or something.

I'd be out of the game if HT took over SW.

I am fully confident from the release wording that Hot Toys is doing the original film.
Hey!! Maybe they'll do something completely new. Like a Planet of the Apes "alternate versions" line. You know Cornelius with interchangeable Roddy head. Or maybe a first cast line with Paul Newman as Taylor, Edward G. Robinson as Zaius, James Brolin as Cornelius and Linda Harrison as Zira. And then don't forget Burt Reynolds as Brent.
Seriously, I can't wait to see what they will offer and hope that it will be irresistable.

They mentioned the 40th anniversary of the Planet of the Apes in the newsletter so yeah original it will be.

I am not sure what to think of this though, i have all the figs I wanted out of the movies so I don't think I will buy anything from HT's run on this license. Or maybe some gorillas...:D

Burton version had some great looking charactes that would rock in 1/6th.

But to me the movie was so terrible I would not feel right owning them, kind of like buying a Robocop 3 figure. Its essentially the same as the original release, but the baggage of that crap movie makes it a no go :lol
