Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

Exactly. People make a big deal about him blowing the suits up but forget they can be assembled in a day or less.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

I have a feeling we'll see Tony use only one new suit in Avengers II. I'm guessing it will be similar to the Bleeding Edge armor from Invincible Iron Man comics. Something personal, that can never fall into the wrong hands.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

I think we'll see the Stealth suit since he referenced it in IM3, and I'm hoping to see both Gemini and Hulkbuster to deal with a raging Hulk :D

When i first watched IM3, i assumed(Rightly or wrongly), that Extremis cannot be removed from people. That once they had it, they had it for good.
And that Tony's line of "As promised, i got Pepper Sorted out. Took some tinkering, but then i thought to myself: Why stop there?"
I was thinking: "What if Tony perfected Extremis?"
I know that's obvious, but what i mean is: "What if Tony perfected it to the extent that Pepper *still* has Extremis in her. But she can live with it because Tony made it non-volatile?"

If that's the case, Tony could have imbued himself with Extremis, and could also have suits powered by the extremis energy.
It's too close to the Fantastic 4 to have Tony producing flames from his feet and flying around like the Human Torch, but a suit that can convert Extremis isn't too much of a stretch.

Of course, if Tony doesn't have Extremis, it's no stretch at all to have him simply without a reactor, but with more suits that DO have reactors.

Did you read the extremis comics Barry? Its programable, what tony does with it is remove all the bad stuff (like the flames and ****). And keep the super speed an enhanced brain functions etc.. I think hed do something like that in avg 2. I loved the extremis story, even got a chance to meet adi granov last year and got his signature on my copy! :lol

Didn't he have a liquid suit in the Extremis comic run in the new Iron Man? Was kinda like the T-1000 then wrapped around him to make the Iron Man suit.

Sweet! You got any cool anecdotes from the meet?
Or pics of the signed copy? I love this kind of stuff.
And yeah, I have read extremis.

Kind of. He has a subcutaneous "control sheath" that emerges and covers his body when he needs it, and carries the armour plates from his suit in a suitcase to put on at any time.

His Bleeding Edge armour and the suit he wears in the new Marvel Now comics (black and gold one) are both entirely stored internally, and completely liquid metal.

Mk. XLII had the individual pieces like the comic Extremis suit, so I think we'll see the next step in Avengers II. The last few lines in IM3 set the stage for this IMO. Tony stops seeing Iron Man as just a suit of armour he wears and thinks of it as himself. Fully embracing and accepting that fact, I think we'll see a much closer melding of Tony Stark and Iron Man in the next flick.

I haven't read the latest ones. I'll have to find copies and give them a read.

Ahh. I haven't met a lot of famous folk, but when i do, i try and find an angle to chat with them about something most people would think of.
It gives them something cool to talk about that they might not have occasion to on a regular basis.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

I dunno it's cool but I like how "kinda" grounded in reality IM was, like you could "kinda" believe this stuff could exist but then IM3 all that went out the door... flying arms and legs going over sea and stuff, just wen't a bit to sci-fi for me.

To be fair, there's a certain amount of suspension of disbelief that goes with Iron Man.
Somehow, Tony is protected from any and all inertia/momentum changes while in the suit. Which would not happen in real life.
The MKII falls through the roof of a multi million dollar home(And through every level, even through the piano), and at the end of the movie, despite being several days later, the holes are still there?
Have you ever seen what happens to a car when it hits a tree? And yet Tony's suit protects him when smashing through several trees.

It's all totally unbelievable in real life, but i have no problem enjoying all the movies for what they are and getting into the spirit of them.
Just imagine that it *can* work, and you'll enjoy the movies better.
:lol

^^:exactly:

There is a lot of suspension of disbelief that goes with ALL of these movies. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

It would be interesting to have a director approach Iron Man grounded in reality, the way Nolan did Batman.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

I did not think that Batman or any other comic superhero movie can really be that grounded in reality IMO. No car could ever do what the Tumbler did, it is a four wheel Iron Man suit. Jumping buildings, driving on rooftops and ramming garbage trucks and then magiclally turning into a motorcycle that rotates its wheels sideways to turn and that is just the car.

I think the only movie that even comes close to that is Kick ***... and even that movie had some Over the top stuff in it

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - Mark XXXIX / Gemini

Every movie is unrealistic but that's the fun of them isnt it? Real life doesn't have a soundtrack playing in the back round, people don't give amazingly worded uplifting speeches when your about to face something challenging, your day doesn't skip to all the interesting parts and cut out the boring stuff. How about the luck and timing in movies? Iron man saves that kid just in time in im2, pepper saves him from killian just in time in im3, he never gets shot in any of the spaces in his mk 1 (his eyes are completly unprotected). That's just some random ones but there's tons in every film and that's what makes them fun, we like heros and we like when they save people and beat the bad guy. We just want some emotional lead up to it to make it more satisfying.

It would have to be a suit the size of the Iron Monger for it to *anywhere* close to what a real powered suit would look like(Not that i am saying we have the tech for that now, but just for the gizmos he has in the suit, and the strength it has).
I have no problems believing the tech in the Iron Man Movies as they are presented to us.
It works fine in the framework of the movie.
Although i wonder how he is supposed to get the MKV suit back off again...
