Man.... Now I have to get ANOTHER Jack... :lol

Will looks great too, and exactly the version I wanted as well. Hot Toys is draining my bank account a lot next year. :monkey2

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with Josh here. I don't think Sideshow figures are on the same level as Hot Toys. They are more so the adage is true in this case, you get what you paid for. I have had Sideshow figures crumble apart on me 10 seconds out of the box (T-1000) and not look so hot with their mis proportioned heads and hands. On the other side Hot Toys has yet to disappoint me. Their figures look great everytime, their packaging is the tops, the accessories are a plenty and the figures are tough with no loose joints.

HT owns 1/6 right now- in my opinion of course. :)

So the SSC Indy will have a great headsculpt. Now what about proportions and the outfit? I tend to look at the full picture and not just the head sculpt. SSC does not give this type of detail and quality for half the price and I wonder if they even could at HT/Medicom prices [for their 1:6]. Maybe with help from Hot Toys. ;)

Yeah, it's true unfortunately. SSC does amazing work in 1:6 scale at that price point and are not in the same league as HT due to the price difference. HT is able to do more and give you a better figure out of the box due to things being of higher quality.

SSC still gives you quality, but not $150 figure quality... and rightfully so... because we are paying $60-70 for them. Makes sense. I know they will do Indy proud and will give us amazing stuff for an affordable price, but not something as astounding as this Jack or the Predator 2 Elder. But that's ok, there is plenty of room in the game for both ways. And eventually things will change. Either SSC will drop out of the 1:6th game altogether or they will upgrade and prices will change.

I agree, Sideshow needs to play some serious catchup to hang with Hot Toys. Medicom is great but I feel they are over priced for the most part. Even though a Hot Toys figure cost more than a SS, I feel that the price increase is justified. I honestly shudder to think how a Jack Sparrow figure would have looked had Sideshow done it....the Shaun of the Dead figures come to mind. Too man inaccuracies and odd looking pieces to the figure in my opinion.

Not to start a nerd war but I hope things change soon. I really like the characters Sideshow produces but in the end I am just regretful that a company like Hot Toys didn't take them on in the end. I would gladly pay a little more to upgrade in quality and have a figure come out looking more real than like a toy. I am admiring my Predator 2 figure right now and that thing is simply a masterpiece, on the other end of the spectrum I am eying my Han Solo figure- nuff said.

Do it right, or join Hot Toys. :rock

That's your right to feel that way. I disagree 110% but thats life. I've not ever had anything like that happen with any of my SS figures. The proportions on a few figures have happened but honestly the majority of my figures from SS look great.

I'm looking forward to my two POTC HT figures and adding Will if not the other Jack as well.

I'll get Will for sure and may get this new Jack figure. Will see about that. The sculpts so far on the POTC stuff kick butt and are running with SS as far as greatness IMO.

I disagree. HT is 10 steps ahead of SS, imo.

HT again and again pleases collectors around the world... seriously their product improves at a much faster rate than sideshow 12"
Improved paint app as well as head sculpt likeness... (not to mention the quality of clothing and accessories) and as for the retail price of their figures... seems like theres little to no increase of what they asked for in the first place...

But at the end of the day it's all about capital... how much you got in ya pocket and how much you're willing to fork out to mass produce freaken kickarse figures for everyone to own!

Hot Toys=Gods with magical 1/6 making powers? I think so! :rock :lol

Seriously though, no offense. I still love Sideshow and there is room for both companies. :D

Why? So we can pay $150 for Indy figure? I'm glad SS got it cause Indy is a line I want to get several figures from and IMO SS gives you this level of greatness for half the price.

I'd easily pay Jack Sparrow prices($122 from AlterEgo)for an Indy figure from HT. Trevor's sculpt is great but HT would do a better job overall with this line.

Amen to that.

Now having said all that ...

SS figures are great to pick up cos of their reasonable price and decent quality... as a customiser's point of view SS figures are great to play around with... if all the figures come out of the box looking so perfectly ... then i'd probably picked up another hobby long ago....
To me thats where the fun is... customise it... tweak it... repaint it...

So we're getting a new head for jack. Yay, and poo. Oh well. I'm sure oene of the hong kong evilbay stores will probobly part one out, and i can get the head that way.

I disagree. HT is 10 steps ahead of SS, imo.

Thats fine. You have the right to.

I don't want to turn this into a HT vs SS thing. Cause I don't care to have a part in it honestly.

I'm glad Will is coming and he looks very nice so I know I'm gonna get him. Will wait and see for sure on the Jack figure since I do have one coming and really like that one.

Not expressive enough if there was one thing Johnny Depp did with the Sparrow character was to make sure that he was always really weird and expressive. The worried look on the Cannibal sculpt and even the smirk on the sculpt below look better than the Bland Vanilla pose on the original release.

See, I think the first Jack was a great HS, it has the stern face he did use at times and it really looks like Depp and Sparrow. This head is great, but is also limiting. The BEST scenario for collectors, which will never happen, is like a 5 head Sparrow expansion set with various expressive faces, since HT heads are really easy to swap. I'd gladly pay for a set of several Jack heads to capture his various expressive moments, but overall the neutral first head, while not totally true to character, works best in a variety of poses. As perfectly as this new head captures him, when you start posing him, it'll be quite limiting what looks right with his face like that.

I agree. With smiling Jack you can't really have a good fighting pose. Although, you'd be more inclined to pose him with his 'drunken' attitude.

But the Cannibal Jack is hilarious. Besides, who would pose that Jack in any other pose then suits that expression.

I'd like to get him just so I can tie a bamboo pole behind him, have him hunched over with that expression... AWESOME!

Couldnt agree more!

Sideshow owns Hasbro, but with the two asian competitors, SS is seriously lacking in the quality department.

Oh you can bet this will be fun, his face is perfect for many a Cannibal Island shots.

I'll definitely want to do something like "ahhhhhhhhh!!!!, Oh bugger!"

While it's true that Hot Toys makes great figures, you are paying a premium. We all agree their attention to detail is superb, but some of their product research is lacking still, so there is room for more improvement. Consider their quality control of the Aliens Warrior. I will say it's good to see their transition to seriously good sculpts, costuming, paint apps and willingness to take on design challenges, like the Preds, Aliens, Ed-209 and Power Loader. They definitely are the 1/6th pinnacle.

Hot Toys don't have discounts, sales, competitions, free stuff in their packages, or a reputable customer service, or fan based relations.

What sucks is this drawn out re-issuing of past product. Robocop, Superman/Kent, now PotC. It's not fan oriented but greed oriented. Whatever the case these are plastic moulded production line items, so they cost a minimum, and whereas Sideshow products reflect that, Hot Toys doesn't. I know, an arguable comment.

Hot Toys packaging is flash, agreed, but it is way oversized, therefore it increases shipping costs and takes up valuable storage space, so they aren't terribly environmentally conscious either. Also, while some items are collectibles, in that they are limited issue items, others don't have any information regarding their run sizes, so who knows? A minor point.

Great figs but, and they don't come with twisty ties, as far as I know. Except for Sao Feng. What went wrong Hot Toys??? Why? Why? Why?

Back to the point, Will I hadn't considered, but it looks so good. Arrrghh.
