Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

How much does everyone think? I reckon maybe $120, $130/$140 with PERS.

Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

Its hard to say with the new bodies and all. I fear they will be closer to $200 like Batman and Michael are.

Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

I hope between $150-160, since I want to get 3!

I hope its closer to the $100 mark since I too want three (2 troopers and 1 ambassador). $150 is better than $180 or whatever their last few figures have been, but still, I'll take them for the lowest price possible.

That's exactly what I want to do. I'm sure lots of other people will follow suit.

Sure cheaper is always better, but I think $100 isn't realstic.
We're talking about Hot Toys figures & I can't remember that
I've ever seen one for $100. In germany they will probably cost
around $230-260. (Huge rip-off!) I'll order mine straight from Asia,
so this shouldn't be my problem!

The T-700 Factory Diorama was $70......

Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

$160 are currently only €113,52 EUR, so I've a different view on the possible price!

Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

Great figures but some criticism.

The legs seem to long on this figure somehow (it makes the head look to small).

The eyes seem to small, they don't have that freaky look they had in the movie.

I wanted an expression like this (notice the pronounced eyes):

The eyes should really be improved on this figure, they didn't really capture that psychotic look they had in the movie and the body should be proportionally shorter to the head.

I agree with everything you said there. These figures look amazing (and I'm getting 3), but you're right, the eyes definitely look too small somehow.. (also the bone to the sides of the eyes shouldnt stick out so far. There should be a 'kink' towards the eyeball on the sides.)

Regarding the legs, its hard to tell if it's the actual proportions... the camera angle... the pose (I'm assuming these things have joints at the knee/elbows? its hard to tell... they could be fixed sculpts & just move at the shoulders/wrists & hips/ankles couldn't they

But you're right... something is a little off. I think he looks too.. chunky. I remember their bodies & legs looking much thinner, they were tiny skinny things, making their heads look larger.... this guy almost has 'normal' proportions. Could be the post though.

But like I've always said, it's impossible to tell properly from a few photos. They still look great though :rock

Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

Yeah, the head and eyes should be larger.

Still, they kick ***! :rock

Scroll down to the bottom of this website:

for a pic of some original models, which were used in the movie!
I think the proportions are spot on!

I don't think so.

Compare this body:

To the bodies in this screencap:

Notice the small arms and the short legs (on the left). The figures arms and legs are clearly to long and it's head is to small. The nose is also to fleshy on the figure. Include the small eyes (they bother me the most) in this and we have quite an imperfect martian figure.

Re: Hot Toys Mars Attacks! Thread

You can't compare the CGI + Model martians!
Here's a comparsion of the figure & original models:

I think the legs are quite close, but the arms a little too short!

When i look at that, the problem is mainly the head and eye-size, way to small.
