Are you sure that you aren't looking at the "MSRP" price that was originally listed? That is usually much higher than the actual selling price of Hot Toys figures.

Amiami usually has HT figs for 15 to 20% off retail .... not for these exclusive figs which is Japanese retail (MSRP) + 3k Yen.

Hong Kong always gets the cheaper bargain on all figs... inclusive of the exclusives.

In Japan, HT pocketed most of the profits... in HK, scalpers and middle men are getting the bigger piece of the pie (with the locals getting the better bargain compare to elsewhere around the world).

Assuming the retail price is pretty much the same the world over (which may not be the case, I don't know how it really works), Amiami seem to charge a good deal in excess of the retail price on all HT figures. I realise most of them say 15%-off and 20%-off under the price but still, even with that, they're charging US $50 - 100 more than stores like Toys2 and BBTS, these places that aren't known for cut prices.

People accept that HT's Bruce Lee has a retail price of $200, yes? I can't be bothered looking into the recommended retail but $200 seems to be the price most charge and yet amiami have it listed here for $289:

It seems like every figure is at least $20 more than a place like Toys2, but many times it's an even greater difference, the average is probably about $40 - 50 more.

With this Jackson figure, and the other exclusives, I don't think it's a situation of them having a higher price because it's an exclusive, it seems rather to be something they do with every HT figure.

If it ended up in Toys2 tomorrow I would expect it to be a lot cheaper than amiami, as with every other figure. People say though that Toys2 wont have it until March, that's a long way away, and so I think what they'll charge is less predictable at this point.

Few points:
1.) Japanese retail price that's stated on hottoys jp
2.) Price were compatible and cheaper when 1 USD get you more than 100 Yen (2.5 years ago)

unfortunately prices in JP have not dropped accordingly (or discount percentages increased)

Indeed they are.

Mostly every figure is going is starting to hit that $200 mark; and eBay isnt helping the price situation either. I dont know how much longer I can keep going for figures if they stay this price. Seems now I have to start choosing my figures choices carefully.

BTW, is it me or does it seem like since this figure has an "exclusive"" tag, it makes more people want it? Seems more people have become MJ fans since this exclusive fig was announced.

I couldve sworn I seen some of the same names that are praisng this figure bashing MJ & the fig in the DX03 thread...

There Buy It Now price was $350,and I am not prepared to pay $300 for this figure no matter how much I want it. I thought $250 was a fair price.
