Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure
oh, so we're dealing with absolutes now, are we? (i'm sure u'll say you're not, to slither out of the corner). to u, it's total accuracy to the source material or nothing at all. if that's the case, then u will probably continue to be disappointed no matter what. as for me, i'm not as pre-occupied with absolute perfection. next, u might argue that the ht alien isn't even 60% or 70% accurate, let alone 100%. but that's precisely my point which u simply don't get. u said it "doesn't look like the alien". that's opinion, not fact. the fact is it DOES look like the alien. does it look 100% identical to the on-set alien suit? of course not, i never disputed that. but is there any doubt in any (rational) person's mind when they look at this figure that they will see the alien from the movie? it's not rocket science. the answer is yes, of course.
it's a little presumptious for u to be telling me to stick to the macfarlane figure. the ht alien is a much better representation of the alien than macfarlane's. when i look at the ht figure, it strongly evokes the alien from the movie, much more so than macfarlane's.
anyway, i did agree that ht's figure has issues. just that those issues are not severe enough to turn me off. it turns u off. and that's fine. i get it. but the fact that others find it a pretty good "representation" puzzles the heck outta u. u don't get it. and that's fine by me. just don't take us to task for it.
thanks for the english language lesson, but i'm just fine. i know what an idiom is. i also know how they're used. u used them in the context of telling me to provide "evidence" or shut up. in that sense, it's really not necessary. and do note that my tone was less than serious, hence the joker quote, and the nonsensical advice about not eating your hat. it wasn't literal.
plus, as sabres said, u do not have any evidence yourself that ht does not listen to its fans or forummers here. i'd like to think that the changes they made AFTER the folks here had voiced out their dissatisfaction of the angry-looking skull eyes, is proof of sorts.
i'm not an art collector and i don't pay premium price for what some sculptor thinks the alien kinda looks like.
you might be better off sticking to the mcfarlane figure if all you care about is representations.
and i don't see how my saying this figure doesn't look like the alien in the movie is an opinion.
there's plenty of detailed photographic evidence here that clearly shows it isn't accurate. that's a fact.

"put up, or shut up" is an idiom. a very well-known one at that. nobody actually told you to shut up.
you're really gonna get offended by that? am i the one who needs to "ease up"?
also, i'm not really gonna eat my hat. that's a phrase. an idiom. it's not literal.
anyway, the changes HT made had nothing to do with this forum. or any forum.
they get orders to make expensive changes in new products from the top down. not from american message boards.
HT is probably smart enough to not correlate opinions on the internet to actual sales.
