The Godzilla comparison was on the money. That huge jaw. This thing's face probably only looks half decent with the mouth wide open and the tongue extended...and even then the tongue isn't accurate. I'm finding it harder and harder to want this figure. If you're going to reduce it to an 'interpretation' at least make it look good - the face looks stupid.

I think it looks ok-ish from the side, but from the front it looks like it has sunken cheeks and a massive Godzilla face.

Anyone else think it might be a result of them having to get the stretching mouth articulation in? It probably needs to be a certain shape and mass for the mechanism and rubber to work, and when the rubber mouth tendons are relaxed they seem to naturally sink inward.

Yeah getting the working mouth in probably resulted in many of the compromises in accuracy. I myself would rather have a fixed sculpt that looks like what we saw onscreen, perhaps with an interchangeable mouth. Not sure how realistic a suggestion that is but when the alternative is...what we got

I can live with inaccuracies though, just so long as the iconic look of the head is retained. I've never been one to really care too much about the ox teeth for example, although it is just as easy to get these things right as it is to get them wrong.

I said ages ago that for a figure in this price range I'd have hoped for an "ultimate" Alien figure, with interchangeable heads and all sorts of other extras. A facehugger, or a chestbuster too. A bit of kitbashed flooring doesn't really do it for me.

yeah, it's by far the best alien as far as paint apps go. but, it doesn't really count if everything else is wrong.

that's true. but this isn't the first inaccurate alien ht has made.
the a2 warrior and a3 dog are just as bad or worse and a big part of that is the mouths.
i really think ht is taking the kenner approach to sculpting by prioritizing stupid action features that don't belong on $150 collectibles.

This one reminds me of the HT AVP Alien

The figure looks great, I am disappointed that the mouth tendons are not clear, like the NECA and the real one. Not a deal breaker, but disappointing.

Would you say that combining that shortcoming with the rest of the head's shortcomings is a deal breaker?
