Gave mine a better look over today and found the oil on and around the straps at the back and a small pool on the lower back. Wiped it all up, but I noticed the stuff I cleaned off last night had already started to return, so I doubt this will last very long.

I'm asking question.
Meaning i want opinions.
If i knew how to do it (like you seem to) i would have just go and done it.

A new thread, in order to make everyone know about the issue and make sure that they do send emails with their pic. Not everybody is reading this Thread.
The figure is past news. This oil leak is today news.
I think that a massive customers action could be more powerful than a few isolated mail to which HT will send the same BS answer.

Big Panic?
What you talking about?
We have a problem i'm trying to adress it.
Where's the BIG Panic?
You're panicking?
I'm not.

Petition?
Well sometime they do work.
Whats wrong wih toying with the idea?

HT also said at first that they would not replace the BAT DX suits...
Of course this answer was to the isolated mails but when, it got on websites, blogs and such their answer was different.

And lets not start to jump at each other throats.
I'm trying to help each other.
Like i said i have solutions if i want to get it right for myself.
And it doesnt stop you to do something on your own.
Live and let die.

;)

Thanks.

Wow man, relax. Wasnt ment to insult you. You asked for opinions so wheres the problem? We dont share the same opinion, so what... :duff

How about raising awareness among other fellow board members? Make more people aware that the issue is now bigger than just the DX instead of letting them believe there're just a bunch of problem-ignoring, pole squatting, Hot Toys fanboys posting their glee about a figure in the Comedian thread.

Youve got a point there I agree with. However this doesnt belong into the DC section.

And if you'd bothered to read a just a few posts prior to yours, you would've seen that given how long ago Comedian was produced, HT is unable to offer replacements.

Read it before, actually refered to it in the post you were quoting. Why the animosities? :peace

Dont get what you mean, maybe because English isnt my firtst language? But I assume you are not sharing my view which is absolutly fine for me. :)
Once again, we are all in the same boat, but is it really necessary to have endless threads about an issue that is not fixable? Always when I go to the leaking DX thread, I fear about new horror stories and that I will find something new on mine. Seriously guys, I come here to enjoy collecting a little more and share it with some cool guys all over the planet. But not to go back to my figs in fear of finding new issues I might have not cared about otherwise.
Does my DX Bats leak? Unfortunatly yes. I did get a replacement body though, but this made it just better not ending. Looks as it is something I have to live with. You can always take your consequences (eg: sell it, dont buy HT figs anymore) or not. Up to you. Same or even worse with Comedian. I wont sell my Comedian or DX Bats because they are leaking and I will not stop buying HT figs because of 2 errors as they are just too great. And at least with Batman, they did a good customer service (just compare them to NECA).
Nevertheless I share everybodys opionion HT needs to raise their quality and I am pretty sure they will . They did improve the muscle bodies when they have learned their lesson(s) and they will hopefully do with the rubber suits. BTW my Demon Bats isnt leaking, neither my OC. Didint check the MMS Dark Knight though.
If you really want to adress this to Hot Toys, start a thread for it, ask everybody to check each and every rubber suit they have, make a list of which and how many are leaking and how many not. Check when did they start to leak and where. Make pics, pics and pics and somehow make this information available to Hot Toys. Maybe this will help them to find out what they did wrong on these two guys. But forget about a replacement for Comedian. You wont get it. Just hope to help avoiding this in future releases. Id be grateful if something different happens of course, but dont count on it. I just dont see them offering replacements for a 1+ year old figure. Sorry. :peace

No problem.
We're cool mate ;)

I understand your point but I don't share it ^^

This what we were saying.
The first objective of a new thread is to inform collectors of the problem.
Collectors who own the figure, and those who wanted to buy it.
There is no endless discussion, the problem is proven.
The info needs to flow.
As for the replacement, you seem very pessimist thank god people did not just gave up the same way you did about the Batman DX.
Yet again any publicity about this problem can only be good for collectors, HOT TOYS will be more careful with future rubber suits.

Is it difficult to remove the harness and get the chest part of the rubber suit off? I took another look at mine today and there seems to be a lot of oil gathering under the suit, but if I try to get at it from the outside, the oily parts stretch and no longer cling to the figure. If I could get the harness off and if it is possible to detach the figure's arms, I could slide the rubber shirt off and clean the inside of it, see if that helps at all.

Me too i wonder how you can remove the harness.
Since people sold it parted it should be doable.

But to detach the figure arms you would have to remove the latex of the muscular body.

Why doesn't it belong in the DC section? The figure thread is here! :cuckoo:

You read it? And then asked him to contact them for an exchange? You sure you read the post right? He already did and was told they couldn't because the figure's production was over a year ago and they don't have any replacements. Why the ____ would he ask them again? There's no animosity, I just could not believe the blatant stupidity of the post. :huh:lol

The oily problem is not DC exclusive. Granted, for now it is "only" Comedian and Bats, but this could also happen to other brands, maybe it already did (what about Thor? Is he dry?)

Concerning the stupidity of my comment, Im pretty sure you have had one or two stupid comments yourself, so lets not get too deep in that discussion. ;) :duff

But I now get your point... No I didnt ment to ask for a replacement again. I ment, he should send pics to HT in order to make them aware of the issues with their product. This was the way (if I remember correctly) people have acted with the DX and finally got replacements. I still doubt that HT will offer replacements but if they get enough mails to realize that this is a common problem with Comedian they might change their mind, at least improve future products.

Edit: I have given my Comedian to a friend of mine who is a dentist and therefore able to make good castings. Maybe he is able to come up with a nice replacement. I really start to wonder how these figures will look in 10 years... :horror

I did send pictures mate.
The weird thing is that they did not even denied the oil problem.
Just that they don't have replacements.

It would be cool if in 10 years the figs would be in good shape but i'm not thinking that far ^^
If they could be good at least a month after would be nice ^^

It would be cooler is you're friend could cat a replacement, i doesnt even have to be rubber since the torso of the comedian is not very articulated. Let us know it will definitly interest peoples.

At the moment it is. Comedian and the DX02 Batman are the only two leaking. Iron Man has rubber parts but no issues have been reported with him. I haven't received my Thor yet so I'm guessing neither have others, so that's still to be determined. :huh

This is what he is going to try. No rubber but similar to the DX Batman solution. I really dont see HT changing their mind here because the 1 year gurantee is over. Sucks pretty much, in Germany you have at least 2 years gurantee by law, in cases like this easily up to 10 years... Anyway, I am willing to spend 40 to 50 to fix this issue otherwise he is going to be parted out and will hit the bay.

Also th thing is thgat the warranty begins when you buy your item not when it's released. Hot Toys warns it's only because they have shorts supplies i'm willing to believe that But the thing is that the Comedian doesnt really strike me like a hit, he still largely available online.

In what time period do you think your could have an answer from your friend about the recast?

My suit is leaking as well. I didn't notice it when I was taking pictures of the parted out figure, but then when I went to package it there was oil on the inside and the top of the right strap was about to break in two :huh

Luckily it only sold for $10 on eBay, so not a major lose for me, but annoying to have serious QC issues like this.

Yeah, that would suck if the '89 had similar problems.

I guess from now on, unless a figure is an absolute 100% must-have I will be avoiding any and all rubber suits. I like the Comedian, but he's a figure (even when I was buying him) I figured might eventually get sold to make room for something else. Luckily parted out he's worth more than boxed so the deteriorating suit is not a big deal, but if this happened with the OC TDK Batman I'd be totally screwed :lol

oooo nooo!!!!first the dx and now this???:mad::mad:
I just checked mine too..The back is Leaking!!and the rubber is start to break and became very soft!!:(:(
NO MORE RUBBER FIGURES FOR ME!!:mad:

!@#$%^&*!!!! HOT TOYS!!
