Wanted to know if all the hottoys figure have oil in some parts of the body or is it with specific figures only? I own Mk IV, VI, and War Machine and thought they did not have oil in them. It'll be painful to see one of them getting 'leaked!'
Apparaently HT uses some oil to get the parts more easy slipped on their products. So if you see oil this doesnt have to say that it is leaking, however if it keeps comming back or gets more or appears at places where it is extremly unlikely oil is appearing there, your fig is leaking. Some examples I had(have at home:
DX Batman First wave:
It had oil almost everywhere:
- between upper body and lower body suit
- between belt and upper body suit, this is siad to cause serious damage over time, as the body suit start to decompose
- at the abs
and it came always back, no matter how often I have cleaned it.
I would call this "leaking".
DX Batman DCD wave (/replacement)
- a little wet where shoulder armor touches the arms, fixed it by raising his shoulder armor a little by pushing the end of a q-tip under each
- no leaking between belt and body suit
- however my figure is sweating completly inside upper and lower body suit. I assume/hope this is the applied oil from HT. It is not noticeable from the outside and I am fine with it as long as it stays inside.
I would still call this "leaking" but somehow "fixed" in a way I can live with it (for now).
Comedian
- leaking oil at the back apparently between the suspenders and rubber suit. THis has effected the complete back meanwhile.
- Mine looks pretty identical to this:
Summed up:
When you buy a new figure and undress it, it might be possible, that there is some oil because HT used a little too much. Keep an eye on those rubber parts, that get in touch with plastic or other materials as these seem to be the critical areas (Batbelt - body suit; shoulder armor - arms; suspenders - body suit)...
P.s. Hmmm... Reading my own post I really start to worry about my DX Batman as the full rubber body suit touches the plastic body and there IS oil between there. This might already be kind of chemical reaction...
