The biggest problems with these rubbers is chemical reactions, and here he goes adding another chemical to it to trigger god knows what. Unless you are a expert and know all about the makings of rubbers what works and what does not in the break down of them.

As he put it down so well "removes what ever the hell that oil was" it's called the break down process of the rubber. Same things that happens to rubber washers in cars. After a certain time frame they seem to start breaking down. Since Hot Toys is known for their great cut backs and cheapness probably why these figures that has any rubber will break down so fast.

The oil is what makes the rubber flexible. My DX02 biceps went quite stiff when the oil started to stop before the replacements.

Personally I'd love to visit their factory just to see how they make these rubbers that don't seem to last very long.

Thanks nam. So its just figures with rubber on the costumes?

its weird i recently sold my Mark 2 IM and mars attacks soldier, had my Comedian ready to list, but decided on keeping him, now i'm scared to check.

Have there been any leaking issues with the MMS Dark Knight?

My MKIII is fine despite the rubber parts (abs, elbows and knees). My MMS is also fine. The oldschool rubber bodies only need to be worried about if you pose them in a pose that stretches the rubber. Otherwise, they should last a respectable amount of time (all the Batmans prior to the DX, Rambo, Krauser, Sarah Connor, Mars Attacks, etc). It's the newer figures to worry about, The Comedian, DX02 and potentially Thor.

Well, I guess he can expect his figure to last as long as his car tires now (5 years/5,000 miles). :lol

Sorry, I meant gaskets.

I remember Geil saying how bad his car went with the rubber seals on the dashboard and such with armor all. It took a while though. It just didn't happen over night like some people here would like to believe.

*remembers the discussions in the original suit Batman thread*

Too much deja vu.

The vest armour is rubber right? the rest is pretty much fabric.

I wonder if the IM MKII AU will have the rubber abs that the Iron Man 1 line had

:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo: You're not going anywhere near my figures. :wave

Isn't thor's armor rubber as well? So the vest and scale shirt (I canceled mine when issues arose with Comedian).

As for IM, I'm guessing yes. Since there isn't a panel there for "removal" it would be needed to maintain ab articulation.

I guess i'll have the last comedian standing lol

This has to be the worst advice I've read since the issue with Batman started...

Reminds me of another user some time ago, remember? x-Mcfreak's so called solution isn't even 4 hours old yet he thinks it's sorted.

Everytime I've read somebody tried such and such solution never came back weeks/months later to prove it. Or there was a mass sale of figures 4 - 6 months later.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with knowing effects chemicals have on rubber. :lol

But for a little more insight, feel free to scour the DX02 thread to read what happens when you put Armor All on your figure straight from a Freak who did. :wink1:

I plan to get in on the casting or whatever but then I have to paint it, and cut my original. And it will never be as good as the original etc so I'm saying I don't accept there is no solution... There has to be something

It'll be arguably better than the solution. In 5 years, there'll be a bunch of MIB Comedians with melted harnesses and suits fused to the bodies. And yours, after getting the new suit, will still look great and near minty fresh.

Yeah but the freezer process hardends the rubber that never cured properly. the oil freezes to a hardened state. which is removed all at once because it becomes a solid material. I forgot you have to be thick skinned to post here. :cuckoo: I will post before and after pics

Just trying to be helpful.....sheesh all that matters is mine is fixed and may have to redo process in six months but it is back to original shape now

You suddenly have a fix that's "worked" for yours for a few hours now and think that's the answer. We're telling you it's been done before and didn't do anything but prolong the issue and in a few cases, worsened it. Freezing doesn't fix it. That's not how rubber cures. And so you've wiped away the symptoms. All you're doing is prolonging the process. Removing the oil from the figure causes it to dry out and crack faster than leaving it on. Might do you some good to stop being so stubborn for a second and think about what we're saying. We've been following the DX issue since it first started and know a thing or two about leaky HT figures.
