and then you guys all brainwashed me and now I am almost as picky as most of you

I've always been picky though, i have never understood why people bother to buy the crap that comes with Special Edition boxes, etc.

But then I found out about a little company Called Hot Toys, that was a sad, sad day for my Wallet....

I'm sorry, but Arnie looks slightly off in this photo.

I realize you were being sarcastic but to me that's not the best pic for comparison. The lighting is completley different and plus it's a photoshoot shot. He could have been styled different there and I'm sure the would have been airbrushed in some places to remove and imperfections before they released it. I'm sure the studio and Arnold wanted him to look his best for that shot.

I will repost the many faces of T2 Arnold.

Whats going on with him in that first pic in the Wall of Arnie? Looks like hes saying "Mean boy took my sweets!". Has he just been hit around the head with the pool cue?

No it's around when he's breaking the hand of the biker that puts the cigar out on his chest. The images were gathered to show how varied his hair was throughout the film, not so much different facial expressions or anything, I put those together back when the big debate over the figure hair came up.

Yeah I remember. It successfully swayed me when I was in doubt about the hair. I have no hair-related complaint now....well I've got some back hair I wish I didn't have but apart from that...oh wait the figure-

I'd settle for T-1000 this week, this week's the last shot really to keep the 1 figure per month thing going, if they don't reveal one now, than it's anyone's guess when the next reveal will come, but if we see T-1000 in March, I'd say we'll likely see a BD T-800 in April, which times out fine, shoudl coincide with the release of this one in the HK, and if they do pack things in with a BD that can be mixed with this figure for other versions, it'll boost sales.

Thinking NECA looks all chiseled and rough in its finish is not relevant to anatomical comparison, it's an opinion on the finished quality of the two companies, and like I said, of course there's no comparison, HT strives to capture every little pore and wrinkle there, NECA leaves rough edges and cuts that look like it was carved in stone.

No, but it's relevant to an overall comparison. You're trying to minimalize it to justify what's going on. It's like trying to justify one sculpt looks better than another because the one you think is better doesn't have the doll dot. When all is said and done, both sculpts side-by-side is what people should be looking at. And in that situation, the HT sculpt kicks all kinds of ass over the NECA one.

The NECA one is great for a $30 toy of the Terminator. As a high-end collectible, no.

I can't wait for him to ship and sell out so Hot Toys feel safe enough to reveal the next version of the T-800.

That's never really been an issue before.

His hair looks the same in every pic IMO. Its just different lighting and camera angles that make it look different.

You mean the popularity of Hot Toys figures? If so, I'm not so sure. You get the impression based on eBay sales along with e-tailer stock that some figures just don't do as well as others. Look at Kane and Dallas (which eventually went on clearance on BBTS for $80), the Watchmen figures, which don't seem to be moving anywhere, and even the Thriller Michael Jackson, which seems to be frequently selling for well below MSRP (due to supply, I think, but the argument still holds).

I similarly hope that this figure sells well, because I agree with a-dev that that will up the chances of a T1 version later, but I don't think it is guaranteed by any means. Even with the Terminator: Salvation figures, I've noticed the T-600 going on clearance at some places. I'm sure that Hot Toys has a "best scenario" plan, and they may have to get a few figures into the pipeline to ensure that there isn't too much of a lag between releases, but are we guaranteed a DX "Battle Damaged" T2 T-800, a T-1000, or a T1 Tech Noir Arnold? I wouldn't say that.

There is no doubt a HT Arnold Terminator is going to sell far better than Watchmen, MJ and Alien humans.

I personally thought that MJ was going to sell like hot cakes. Guy just died, figure was a great idea nearly perfectly executed (except smiley face), previous figure was/is going for $700+ on eBay, but now Thriller is going for $120-130. I hope you are right, and of course, T2 Arnold seems like a perfect geeky kind of character/license that would work with Hot Toys fans, but sometimes it's hard to tell.

:confused:This debate wasn't ever about an 'overall comparison' as far as I was concerned. Rather you leapt to the assumption that I was saying that the NECA figure is better than the Hot Toys one. I thought I'd been clear that that was not what I was saying at all. Once again I was breaking it down into the various aspects of each figure. So Maulfan's line of argument is entirely appropriate in this context albeit certainly not in the context you thought was behind it.

I have no argument there, never did. Its not a high end collectible

I'm not minimalizing anything. The people talking about whether NECA is better than HT or not area comparing it on an anatomical level, is his face elongated enough, cheekbones defined enough, jawline properly shaped. Even if side by side, the Hot Toys portrait looks like years beyond NECA in production quality, it can still be off in details that NECA may get right. It isn't farfetched to compare that. If someone were saying the overall quality of the NECA portraits trumps HT, I'd agree with you that it would seem ludicrous because of the great differences in production quality, but comparing the capturing of the anatomical features and how accurrate to the source each is seems logical enough, I may not agree with the opinions, but I think it's a reasonably debated subject.

I can think of one guy who, when he rejoins the forums under a new name after being banned, certainly seems to be of the opinion that the NECA is outright better than the Hot Toys. But no one else has been saying that to my knowledge.
