To be fair the HT T-800 can look good in that pose, too. ;)

Don't have a bike though, so I photoshopped in the one from the poster.

Indeed. If I do that it'll be a case of commissioning someone here. I've already thought of sending it to Greggo - he mostly does repainting, I'm not sure if he could smooth the skin (like laser resurfacing for acne scars!) and get rid of the seams running up the neck though. At the very least I'm sure he could improve the stock NECA paintjob.

All the best on your Cyberdyne bash, I think at this point its probably well worthwhile doing it. I can't see Hot Toys releasing another T-800 to cover that look. If anything at all it'll probably just be the BD figure.

Yeah, I guess so too, that´s why I got those and the travelers set is good for another thing too, right?!
The doubletake from Mister Polymimetic himself.
;-)
You got that set already, Dev?!
And would love to see Greggo put his hands on it.
But many, many guys over here could do an amazing job to the sculpt I guess.

Yep thats my plan for that mannequin. Its not exact because the mannequin in the film had more precise human detail on the head whereas the bust provided with the COOmodel set looks more like the T-1000 as he begins to take his human shape where the facial details haven't formed yet.

Y'see....it just....just.....neh. The pose is there but the head looks way off to me basically. If you want it to look like the movie poster. :dunno I don't think its helped either by the way the neck is part of the body rather than sculpted with the head. That tapering in of the necks on HT muscle bodies is an unfortunate drawback to them.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but in my book...dunno, it kinda suits the sense of the scene more, you know?!
Like he´s seeing himself, his real form, that´s kinda funny and it´ll look great once it´s set up, I believe.

"Just neh"
:lol
I don´t wanna make fun of you, man. But that´s exactly how we say it in germany when we see something on our girl that doesn´t fit her but she finds it perfect for her.
Hilari...wait for it....ous.
:hi5

I kinda know what you mean, I guess, but I like it...I really do.
I know your problems with the Arnold and I understand it, but I just don´t feel that way...that´s the thing with personal taste.
But I also have to say, your Hybrid T-800 and the normal on the bike aren´t both 100%, Both are lacking something, but anyway:
We got our T-800, THE BEST out there if you ask me and that´s all that matters...

Thanks Timo. :wave

Yeah I understand what you mean with the neck, IMO the new CR Reeve suffers from that problem a lot, too.
With the Neca T-800, I just can't get past the "cartoony", slighty caricaturized look though, which it has in my eyes. The texture doesn't help either of course. I'd be very interested in seeing what Greggo can do with it, though. :)

I use that quite a lot actually. :lol

but anyway:

:goodpost: Yep that's what matters most in the end. Now if only we could get that damn BD version...

Thanks for the convo chaps. Yeah we won't agree on everything and different things are more important to each of us and whatnot.

Anyway, I want to cease and desist on the talk of the NECA head here as everyone has had enough of the HT/NECA comparisons from the Predator threads. And theres the chance of attracting a certain multi-banned individual into the forum again to troll the heck out of it.

Yup, know exactly what you mean.
Those kinda SELEKTiv people, right?!
:lol

I just got a olive drab replacement sling for the HT Comedian leather one (M79 nade launcher), need to get a new pic up. With the new mod my Cyberdyne custom is spot on :D

Ok. Seems like I've managed to secure a built 1/6 Tamiya Fatboy + a set of decals. Bike is currently blue, but built in a fashion where I should be able to remove all blue parts for a black paint job.
One guestion. What are you guys (who have it) using as the saddle bags?

^I'm using 1 of these on either side. All I did was colour them in using black permanent marker. I used spare T-1000 trouser belts tied around them for the buckles and then to recreate detail I noticed in the referance pics I was using (see below) I cut strips of tape that came with figures like Billy Sole, Chris Taylor and Sgt.Barnes and applied it as needed to the bags - then coloured that in black too.

You certainly got the lighting down very well to the movie poster - I just don't think it flatters the sculpt, I can't explain it, the way shadows are falling or something...

Yeah I think it's because the light is coming slightly from below, and the sculpt looks better lighted slightly from above, with the shadows falling down on his face, not upwards.

edit: Way back from page 780, but this is one of my favorite T-800 pics, and it shows the lighting from above (found the post because I saved that shot the same day :p).

I know I said my last pics were my last for this figure, but here is another.

Also the sculpt is slightly small compared to the rest of his body.

You must be right because yes indeed that pic you found looks beautiful. We all know looking at our figures in our hands that the sculpt is great. It just isn't perfect because the wrong angle and the light coming from the wrong angle throws it off. The other things your PS shot unfortunately shows is the tapering neck issue (unless you deliberately pulled the head up off the neck a bit?) and my personal peeve about the hair being shorter and tighter than I'd like. Sorry, I seem to be really attacking your pic, I don't mean to be a pr*ck about it, I'm sure you're no less capable of taking a decent pic than me, probably better too. :peace

But yeah that pic you found looks excellent - no issues whatsoever there. Think I'll save that one myself.

Yeah that too. They got the T2 proportions off, but those same proportions are dead-on for T1.

Haha no worries man, I know you mean no harm. I'm an amateur too and just experiment with different lights etc., don't have any special equipment except for a tripod.
I definitely agree about the neck too. IIRC I didn't pull the head out, just had him look up, which is not a flattering pose for the fig. It highlights the neck issue as there are no shadows to conceal it IMO. Same goes for the lighted neck and black background, it makes the neck appear even slimmer than it actually is.

Thanks. Will have to look into that. Was hoping there would be a satchel or something to just throw in there.
Oh well, I guess the endless customizing limbo around HT T2 continues...
