There's something off about both of them. If they could combine the jaw/cheek area of the top image, with the eyes of the bottom image it would go a long way to getting on the right track.

I got another first hand account from a friend who went to the recent singapore toy fair. It's not favorable and that is coming from someone who was so excited about it when it was announced and now he is so crushed when he saw the current incarnation of Alice there.

I guess it's best we be prepared for the worst. It's not only a simple matter of lighting and lens distortion anymore. They really did changed the HS for the worst.

The revised sculpt does not have cheeks and cheeks bones reflecting that of Milla's, hence the fat face/bee stung comments.
