Its going to suck to not be able to enjoy these figures with Daron when they come out. :( He was really looking forward to these. His enthusiasm was infectious when it came to this stuff, and he always had great posts about his favorite figures.

Rest in peace, Daron - aka DGT Woodward.

After hearing the news about DGTWoodward's passing today, This post makes me very sad:monkey2

Again very sorry for your loss.

I remembered that post myself actually and looked it up. It seemed a rare thing to have a husband and wife pair on the forums.

He died? He was just on the other day talking about collectibles?

EDIT:

Yeah he was just on a couple of hours ago.

Really sad news especially at this time of year. Didn't know he was ill ?
My thoughts are with his family.
RIP Daron.

That's the worst part, he wasn't. His wife said they were just sitting around having some tea and he started grabbing his chest and throat and that was it. He was gone before the paramedics got there.

Christ....

That's exactly what I was thinking. The lack of his presence in these threads will definitely be felt in the coming months.:(

Yeah, its sweet and sad all at the same time, sweet that she was going to get these figures for him, and sad that he didn't get to receive them:(

Make you wonder how many other members who may have passed but with no one around to let us know, just go forgotten...

I've actually wondered if Butters died. You were around for him weren't you? He just stopped coming here.

Its also possible me and some others just turned him off this place though. I don't miss Butters, I don't hope that he died mind you, I just find my time on the forum more peaceful without him.

Oh yeah, Butters. Haven't happened across Quiggle for a while either. Ween has wondered what happened to Creecher too, who hasn't been around since mid-2011.

I think it's just crazy that 24 hours ago, he was on here posting away like he usually does, then BAM, gone. Didn't know the guy personally but he did have those qualities that you'd remember tht made him stand out from being just a fellow mindless/faceless forum member.

Good thing the wife made that thread or else we'd all assume he just didn't care to log in again. If I were his wife though, posting the news on a message board would be the last thing on my mind, especially so soon. Just terrible.

He didn't change his sig or avatar much did he. Its amazing the recognition sigs and avatars bring. Before this forum I was never bothered with them.

As to his wife posting the news here this soon. I wouldn't be surprised if, in a similar situation, I did the same. I expect there's a huge amount of shock or not knowing quite what to do with oneself. Typing the words sure must have hurt though.

Wow, you must have been reading my mind, as I was writing my last post here, I was considering bringing him up as an example but thought I'd better not cause one your not a fan and two not sure it was appropriate:panic:

Yeah I thought the same, he didn't seem like the type who would just stop posting. I hope he's ok, he used to drive me nuts, but I would never wish any harm on anyone over a collectibles forum.

Very sad about DGT.
I've faced a lot of tragedy in my personal life, it doesn't make you harder, it makes you softer. I don't even know this man or his wife, but have been very touched by the sadness of this. I guess it's partially because they just seemed so happy. Very close. :(

I didn't know Darron but like the rest of you fellow collectors on the forum I am sad to hear he has passed. Like someone has already said his sig was one that one that always stood out for some reason. Tonight I raise my glass to DGTWoodward.

I don't remember Butters. Quiggle was an alt for Bodie and Creecher is definitely one of the disturbingly missing people here. Been worried about him for a while.

Just reading Daron's last post in this thread below about Adam West & Batman.:monkey2

He was so excited and happy for these 66's. I'll make sure when these arrive to say a little prayer for Daron.:( Wish HTs could dedicate these to him...I know the Dr. Who figures he loved too.

I didnt know him well, I talked to him on some threads, saw him on FB and had a couple of talks on PM with him.

really nice & loving guy and passionate for collecting and the movies, comics, and tv shows he loved, and of course loved most of all his family.

so sad :monkey2

Hi all,

Daron aka DGTWoodward passed away by a sudden heart attack on the eve of 19th Dec, here is a link to the thread started by his wife notifying us:
https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137918

I have been speaking with Sharon, (Mrs DGTWoodward) and she has been gracious and kind enough to let us as a community send a token of respect to herself and her family, not to mention Daron.

We (Dave and mods) have agreed that we are going to pay our respects to our friend Daron aka DGTWoodward by having a collection which I will organise to send flowers to the family on or before the funeral.
The date of the funeral is not known yet but we can do this and send our thoughts to not only Daron but also his wife and family.

So, if anyone would like to make a contribution or donate towards this, please send me a message and I will let you know the details. I am in the UK so will sort out flowers and things and will try include all usernames of those who donate, on the cards of the flowers/ items we send.

Hopefully we can pay our respects not only to a member of our community who we have sadly lost, but also another member - his wife who is also an avid collector, along with their family.

If you would like to take part, please pm me and I will send you my details.

Try to give a little guys. I'm sure even a few bucks would be good. I'm sure Daron would be touched to know the Freaks gave a damn about his passing.
