If this hobby has taught me anything, it'll be that people will justify anything.

Correct, but there's gotta be a line when someone says that's enough. It's just common sense.,I can debate all I want with people liking TDK more than I do, and hence getting more figures for that reason. Even lame ones. But at least, they are fine representations of what they love. Even the overpriced BR Joker. I might not like it but oh well.

But to have ppl justifying styrofoam at $75, or even better, buying a ED209 to fix it themselves and justify such behavior. It's a little much.

As soon as this Batman with the armory that I ordered gets shipped, and when the P.O. goes up for the DX 15 Batman Returns, then I am DONE with Hot Toys. $300 for an average figure is insane! My first Hot Toys figure was the Begins figure for only $149, now its too much. I can afford this hobby, but a 1/4 scale Batman for $500, and then a 1/12 The Bat for almost $800, this is madness. Even if I had money falling out of my arse, this is nuts! JOHN ROBERTS WAS RIGHT!!!!!

For some people, disposable income is all too disposable.

But it's all relative. For most folks, those who don't collect high-end stuff, $50 or $100 for a figure, no matter how nice, is too much.

I'm not gonna cancel my order, I missed the dx12 and and plan to use my dx02 as the display bats. I think it's a ok deal for someone new to the hobby, kinda like $150 per figure with $150 remote light up armory cool.

My wait list for the Armoury alone converted yesterday and goes live tomorrow. Never bought a hot toys before but am a big Batman fan. Still not sure if I want to pay this kind of cash but it does look fantastic to me. I may cancel and get back on to give myself more time to decide, or I may just pay the NRD and take a chance that I won't get cold feet and back out later.

I can't decide if i should just get the Batman Armory or the one with Alfred and Bruce :panic:

Alfred is the main attraction.

He'll need an umbrella, and a tangerine the size of a ruby. :duh

Yes. Because in their minds, it's just toys.

I don't knock the guys who want the IM display and think it's worth it. Worth is relative...particularly when it comes to collectibles. Id bet dollars to donuts most of our family, the ones who don't enable our addictions, would think this armory and everything else we buy from Hot Toys & SSCs is beyond justification.

While I'm not interested in the IM display, I can see the pricing model. Most aftermarket IM display/ diorama stands go for $40-$50 bucks if not more. Add in the lights, labor and P&O and you could easily see the $75 ticket. Hell, the styrofoam is probably free!

Plus we all suspect HTs closely monitors after market sales. It seems that whenever something reaches the stratosphere in ebay price, HTs suddenly gets a hankering to rerelease it...at a fine mark up. They at least use to make small improvements but lately they've just resorted to some straight rereleases with no significant changes at all. I've stopped buying any of them if I already have them because the new ones are sometimes not even as good as the first and for most of my repurchases, not worth the extra cash at all. But I digress.

The cost is mostly in the stands...which are highly sought after.

I won't get much support in this crowd being a Stark-head, but even being an IM fan I have to say that I can't see the pricing on the new HOA's being that they're styrofoam. I think that the original plastic ones could have been offered around this price point and thus us plain ridiculous. I have the original HOA and I bought knowing that it was slightly overpriced at full retail, but the fan in me often gives in (plus I get a sweet deal from a friend who owns a shop). But at least that's solid plastic and well constructed! How is the styrofoam going to hold up? It's obviously not nearly as durable as the plastic original

It's no way as durable but super fans will buy it and like it.

I think the point of arguing if it's worth it is a moot one. As I stated earlier, it's a relative statement. None of this plastic addition is worth what we pay in actual material value but of course, that's not what we are buying.
