I haven't been burned with any of my POs so far. And yeah I suppose it would be smarter to wait until cheaper ones pop up, or until the in-hand pics start streaming in.... but unfortunately I'm just way too impatient for that.

Although needless to say I won't be POing any of these HT SW figures. The in-hand pics will have to be a massive improvement over the pics we've seen so far, and somehow that seems pretty unlikely.

The other noteworthy thing of course, is the numbers that these items are going to be produced - especially a cash cow like SW.

They're going to be available via the regular outlets for a long time I'm betting.

Yeah, is a little odd. This one seems to have gone differently to every other HT SW release so far - no PO even 2 months later. Maybe that means the sculpt is being tweaked? Or maybe...not.

So does HT have some policy where they absolutely will not use 3D sculpted heads for their figures, the way other companies like Big Chief might? Because even if Yulli or the other great HT sculptors are too busy, you'd think the zbrush would be a natural fallback and a MUCH more reliable way to get a good likeness than simply using a lesser sculptor like whoever did this Obi-Wan.

At least judging from the great results I'm seeing people get in the custom figure section.

This, along with AoU Captain America, is what I'm most looking forward to getting this year. I actually like the head pictured on the proto-Ben even though it doesn't capture the Guiness-likeness, which is weird because I really dislike all the Harrison Ford character figures because none of them look like Harrison Ford.

A lesser sculptor? I think the realism in the sculpt is fantastic. It just doesn't look much like Alec Guinness, which is probably a licensing issue rather than a lack of skill on the sculptor's part.

Hadn't thought of that. I've read Alec was only a fan of the money Star Wars made. Maybe the family is being difficult about the rights?

It's not a licensing issue. It's just not a very strong likeness. The detailing is great. Much finer than anything a 3D sculpt could accomplish.

I see. Well, still looking forward to picking this one up...someday. And as much as I abhor the newer movies I would also like to see a Liam Neeson figure from Hot Toys. Weird.
