Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Still, Batfleck is the first time we see a live action Batman that stays true to the original comic costume. Although being a Zack Snyder movie I wouldn't be surprised. He rarely comes up with any original.

I believe this is Snyder's greatest strength as a comic book movie director. He's incredibly faithful to and respectful of the source material - it showed in 300, Watchmen, and is apparent in the trailers for this movie as well.

:lol:exactly:

Did he portray a playboy, business like guy to you..I didn't see it :dunno

Keaton didn't portray a playboy businessman, because that's not what the character in the script was. If Keaton had portrayed that, it'd be ****** acting.

Does anyone know if the suit is more flexible than the '89 version? With that one, any pose I make with the arms just slowly moves back to neutral, and I can't outstretch the arms at all. Thanks for any answers. :)

Edit: Saw a video on page 274, didn't realize it had ratcheted elbows, and the suit at the shoulder seems a bit more flexible but not much more lol.

And seeing that Kenner Batman is so cool, I still have the same figure somewhere. :clap I had their Bruce Wayne too, I thought the likeness was pretty good at the time haha :D

Curious do you have other HT Batman figures? What is not impressive?

Yea I have the dx12, hesitant on the Arkham figure and passed on the 89 in anticipation for this one.

I just don't think the figure lived up to the excitement I had for it over all these years. Didn't improve in an enough areas since the 89 figure. Especially with the mouth plates, not that they're terrible. Just think the 89 might have been better.

Oh, and Keaton IS Batman AND Bruce Wayne. Just saw Batman Returns. He actually doesn't have much screen time but he uses it all to perfection. I love him as Wayne, the way he is "no all there". It plays so well with the duality-theme of the movie.

Man, that film is THE Batman movie. Loved it back then and love it now. Keaton is way better than I remembered.

27 yea ol here.

"BATMAN" is a classic.
"Batman Returns" is a mess.
There was no good live action representation of Batman (the animated series). :monkey3

30 year old. Keaton is my favourite Batman. I like both of his films, but Batman Returns is my favourite Batman film.

Keaton has some fantastic moments as Wayne - and his 'not all there' approach is an excellent one. The "I'm leaving" when he is in the lift is a subtle one and yet in the first film, when he sees the Joker outside the Town Hall and he walks towards his car and gets shot in the arm (or at least his coat gets shot) and he doesn't even flinch. I know he's not a comic book copy of Wayne but I'm glad we have his interpretation of the character.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I'm 34, i was 7 when i saw batman on theatre and immediatly felt in love with the caracter of Batman. this movie was a shock for me. Keaton will be Batman forever for me. I think in this year of 89, we saw the birth of the first blockbuster of the history. As far as i know, i didn't remember something so crazy around a movie, even in France. The 89 "batmania" was so huge. Batman everywhere! T-shirts, caps, shoes, beds, alarm-clock everything!
The only thing i can compare is maybe this winter with star wars 7...

You keep beating me. You have more posts than me, you have more posts in this Batman Returns thread than me, and now, you're getting Batman before me.

I was born in '85. I knew '89 Batman was a huge blockbuster. How did it compare to the original Star Wars trilogy as far as it being popular when it came out?

Got mine yesterday in the wild highlands of Scotland. Total grail piece for me-I got two as well. One to stand beside the Batmobile and one to put in the detolf with the rest of the batmen.
Really happy with it. I much prefer the returns suit to the 89

:lol I did wonder how my post count in this thread could be higher than yours because you're definitely a bigger Batman fan than I am. It's those disappearing acts you pull.

As for me getting the figure earlier you can blame sideshow for no longer having a European warehouse.

Compared to the original star wars i can't tell cause i wasn't born in 77 but i can say that in 89 It was absolutly crazy with Batman!
Being a 7-8 years old child in 1989 was such a cool moment!!!

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Batman in the summer of '89 was unlike any movie opening hype I'd ever seen or have seen, since. Batman was literally everywhere in all forms of media and merchandising. People of all ages and walks of life sported Batman shirts and paraphernalia; certainly not just the "comic book geek" type. Batman was such a phenomena, the brand was actually considered "cool" to be a part of then. Even the anti-establishment/anti-mainstream rebel crowd had to respond. I remember seeing a guy wearing a black t-shirt that said "Batman Sucks" in '89 Batman font. :)
