Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

:lol

I know, the dialogue sucked. I mean his first line in the film is, "I'll get drive-thru", but that's not Kilmer's fault though. His voice sounded natural, unlike all the other actors, he wasn't trying to be Batman. He kind of sounded like Kevin Conroy. If you put Kilmer in both the Burton or the Nolan films, he'd blow those guys out of the water...as Batman, not sure about Bruce.

You just reminded me of the promotion they had at Mcdonalds at the time..it was called a superhero sandwich and honestly it was one of the best things I thought McDonald's came up with as a burger..very tasty..I miss it :lol

It was a triple burger...I think :lol

It was a triple burger...I think :lol

Yeah three patties, sauce, three cheeses on a roll :lol

Basically a big mac with two extra cheeses on a French roll

They tried it again when the first Jurassic Park came out in the theaters, I believe, but it wasn't the same IMO :wave

I think it also was around the time that McDonald's had superhero Loony Tunes toys like Wonder Pig, Batduck and Super Bugs

Who could ever forget the Tacobell 89 and BR collectors cups.

I wonder if anyone remembers the free Superman III comic you got with a combo at Carl's Jr back during the film. I still have mine in storage

They really don't have these promotions anymore :pfft:

Just out of interest, what age are you guys? I thik that might have a role in why certain people like certain Batman actors.

I'm in my... 30's :gah: :lol Grew up in late 80's and 90's. As for my favorite Batman, I don't think I have a favorite. I like certain things about all the Batman actors, except Clooney.

:exactly:

I will say I've been collecting for a very long time. Sometimes I forget that some posters on these Freaks forums are young :wink1:

40, Keaton is tops for me, followed by Conroy.

Waiting for the signal to appear in the bat suit would've been odd..remember this..

34 yo here...

No one could beat Keaton as Batman for me.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I was 11 when Batman '89 hit the theaters and it literally changed my life. Batmania was in full swing that summer, and I was totally swept up in it. I was obsessed with the new movie and all things Batman from that point on. It's the time when I first started collecting and I picked up anything I could with Batman on it, from the comics to the figures and even the full bed set, I had to have it.

Coincidentally, Batman got me into 1/6 scale figure collecting when I bought the first Hot Toys DK Batman and Joker, and then the HT '89 Bats and Joker. Little did I realize they were a gateway into full-scale collecting once I bought all the HT Batman characters, and then started branching out from there.

If only my 11-year-old self could have seen the Bat-toys I would later get...

I guess because of how it all started for me, with Batman '89 having such an impact on my life, Keaton's Batman will always be tops. But also, I think he did such a tremendous job, and really proved to all who doubted his ability to make a convincing Batman, that he had the chops to make a really great one.

Best Batman?

Well, that's easy. Imagine this guy in his physical prime donning the suit. Looks like he has the height and muscle to be just as buff a s Affleck. He could been the greatest Batman ever.. :monkey3

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I wonder why he never made it as a live action actor? He's clearly no Daniel Day Lewis, but he can't be worse than Keanu Reeves...as an actor?

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I was 7 in '89 so Keaton is Batman to me. Even with all the brutal killing.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I said this before, but while I dig Conroy as Batman's voice, I don't think he'd be a good live action portrayal. He's more of a theater or soap opera actor. That video above? I can't be the only one that sees Cary Elwes from Robin Hood: Men in tights?

Conroy is a cool, nice dude and is iconic as Batman (I grew up on the early BTAS seasons, he was THE Batman for me along with Keaton), but I think people overrate him because of nostalgia. They know the voice because that's what they heard as children that carried on as they grew to be adults, which is fine. When I see people say he's the best Batman though when it's 90% animation (a lot of which is shoddy) or that he'd be believable in live action despite his career, I dunno, I roll my eyes.

I still can't believe he was on CHEERS :horror

Watched this episode on Netflix the other day and the minute he opened his mouth the character sounded exactly like Animated Bruce Wayne :lol

They do the same with Hamill as the Joker...there must be a thousand memes of why Hamill "IS The Joker"...while the others actors are fakes :ohbfrank: He has a nice voice...that's pretty much it, imo :dunno

Never seen that episode, and I've seen a lot of them.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I'm 34, Keaton IS The Batman.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Yeah, makes no sense at all. Especially when you consider Nicholson, Ledger, Romero, etc. had to use everything at their disposal to make the character come to life.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I am 30 and Keaton is batman for me.this was my very first batman figure that I took everywhere when I was a kid.
