the stock 89 cape sucked unless the wire was taken out. I couldn't get a natural drape with it and i didnt have the stones to try cutting out the wire. I shelled out for a TM cape and didnt regret it. This figure has a great cape assuming its not just a proto cape and we get nothing close to that cape.

Is it that bad? I thought it was better, I mean it can do this:

I don't see HT doing anything else from BR. This took years to get out..Penguin I can't see them developing a new body for him alone..Catwoman a possibilty but check back in five years..

Actually the body isn't really that big of a deal for Penguin.
Not unlike the short storm trooper body with a fat suit.
Which would be literally zero R&D. Just a fatter fat suit then the make now.
As a matter of fact, with some minor re-tooling at the factory, they could
actually use the short storm trooper body for a BR Penguin figure.

Also minor changes to the Joker Mime outfit patterns and materials, and boom, you
got a BR Mayor Cobblepot Penguin outfit. All you need is a different style over coat.
And yes that is the HT mime hat on the Penguin.

Like this one I did with WGP head with a HT body that I shortened to 10 inches tall without the hat.
I'm sure that HT's would also do a better job on their fat suit & outfit then I did.
If I can do it, surely a billion dollar company can do it..

It shouldn't be that hard to make a Penguin figure. The shorter body can probably be reused in the future.

I liked the 89 Batman cape. It's not that terrible. The wires allow you to pose the cape.

I have already the DX09 witch is my favorite suit ( purest and more organic) but i can't resist cause too much nostalgia!

zero R&D does not equal "retooling"...

It shouldn't be that hard to make a Penguin figure. .

Not hard, but simply might be expensive relative to what people would be willing to pay. For all the new tailoring for this "fat short stormtrooper" body, the figure itself could only be worth making if HT could sell them for $325 (this is an example)... and I doubt many would pay that for Penguin. Perhaps HT penned out the price they'd have to charge and decided they couldn't sell enough to make it worthwhile.

I would pay $325, but not too many others beyond us psychos here would.

Can't wait for this figure. The last suit was surprisingly not as restrictive on movement as I was expecting and I wonder how this one will be. Finger crossed. Preorder placed.

Yeah, I don't imagine this will be a huge seller. Nor do I imagine they will make a large edition size. Nor do I for a moment believe there is some huge fan base for this film that doesn't already have the first Batman and who, as posted here many times, is already second-guessing their need to get this. Even at a reasonable HT price. So a small pool to draw from is becoming even smaller.

If this "sells out" quickly it is not necessarily an indication of a huge fan base... it could simply be an indication of just how few they are making.

I don't think people would be second-guessing this figure nearly as much if they knew a Catwoman was coming soon. It's Hot Toys' own faulty for not seeing the obvious--a sizable number of people would only buy a second Keaton Batman if there was a villain from the movie to pose him with.

This guy is one such token gesture. They feel obligated to put something out from this line they announced but they'd just as soon not bother really.

zero R&D does not equal "retooling"....

Only on the existing body(short ST) part is what I meant. Because it
would have to be just a hair shorter. That would require a slight mold change for the legs
and then the re-tooling for that change.

Again, I made mine with adjustments/mods to the HT mime clothes items.
So that would be an easy mod by using the same patterns and adjusting them
to the fat suit. With 3 exceptions: color of vest material, collar & tux front on shirt,
tighter pattern and darker color on pants. The overcoat would be the only new item
outfit wise and HT could even re-purpose some army boots from another figure.


And $325 if that were the price, still would be much less then getting custom figures.
The WGP set (BD Catwoman and Penguin) would cost you like $1600 if I remember correctly.
Now that's crazy.
