Just re-watched Batman Returns..... HT got the batlogo on the boots spot on... nice attention to details...

Re: Hot Toys – Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I'd be happy with just getting Catwoman. I'm not a huge fan of the film at all but I liked her design and would love getting her in her regular outfit and also a battle damaged version. Truthfully I'd probably buy a Penguin too just to complete the set but I really don't care for the character as portrayed by DeVito.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

i'd buy the penguin just because he is penguin. Im a huge fan of the penguin, not of this particular version though i have to say. too unnecessarily grotesque for my tastes and too far removed from the comic books.........but the penguin plays serious 2nd fiddle to the joker with the toy companies and i need a 12" penguin in my collection.

In all reality, Catwoman would a figure i think that would rip easily.

You'd just have to be careful with it. A lot of costumes for these figures are pretty delicate, it's just a matter of not putting them in extreme poses for long periods of time.

:exactly:

It's a problem for any figure with rubber body or outfit. I think the catwoman would be fine it's just a tight catsuit like TDKR version or the Avengers BW's

I don't think ht are gonna make catwoman or the penguin somehow. Too much concentration on the marvel lines.

This is why I'm buying the upcoming Tweeterhead Pfeiffer Catwoman statue.

This dude nailed the Pfeiffer Catwoman sculpt.

It's worth remembering that next year will see a new Batman movie and that may spur interest in the older movies so it's premature to count out Catwoman and Penguin just yet.

The DX-09 cape swap is one of those things--like the Man of Steel collar adjustment--that has always struck me as much ado about nothing. I like the DX-09 cape fine. Maybe it's because my DX-09 is in a museum pose, but I think the stock cape looks great. (As for the Man of Steel's collar situation, I'm not taking an x-acto knife to my $200 figure to make it look 1% more screen accurate.)

The material they used on the DX09 cape, both the outer and inner lining, is perfect. Very tight grain, perfect finish, etc. And the stitching is excellent. The rounded edges make it look perfect. The one problem is that there's just too much of it. They made it big enough to do the dramatic wings up pose, but you can't really leave the figure in that pose anyway. They should have just made the cape smaller, so that it would drape nicely more easily. You can definitely get it to drape well, but you have to spend a lot of time futzing with it.

The Tony Mei capes that I've seen drape much better, and much more easily, which is why people like them. The stitching and material isn't quite up to the level of Hot Toys, though. They have very sharp edges, not rounded, they look like they were just cut from a piece of fabric.

Looks like they're doing something similar with MMS 293. The cape looks to drape much better, but if you look closely at the inner lining and the edges, it looks like it's just cut from a big piece of pleather. Hopefully the finishing details will be better on the final figure (and if not, not a huge deal).

Since I have the dx09, I'm not hugely in need of the returns batman. But, the cape is definitely lookin like something I might pick up parted out for it.

Nah. Hot Toys are only looking at the money that this figure makes. They won't be thinking of some hypothetical interest that may or may not arise from an entirely different version of Batman and his villains.

edit- At least I doubt they will. Didn't mean to sound so authoritative there

I think this piece is a good example of why hot toys isn't as good as we all know it could be. I don't like this shady business of only including the Keaton head sculpt with the two pack. There are other hot toys figures that cost 229$ and have two head sculpts included. This is just like the winter solder 2-pack. That was a rip off and they knew it so they released that first and then, after they had screwed everyone over, they released the AOU Cap which cost 100$ less and included the Rogers head. Another thing that bothers me about this Batman returns set is the rubber body. My fellow collectors, I ask you, what is the point of 30+ points of articulation if you are not allowed to articulate the failure without fear of leaving stress marks at the joints due to a rubber suit. They should have included a bent set of dynamic arms and a straight neutral set. That is the answer to ugly visible joints, not rubber that limits posing options. Finally, the head sculpt is way off. Even the pics that JC Hong (correct me if I'm wrong there) released on his page don't look right. I think collectors need to stop supporting stuff like this or we will never get any better. Just because something gets you nostalgic and looks cool doesn't mean you should spend money on it if it's not a quality piece.

They wasted time making the Amazing Spiderman 2 figures (I don't know anyone who liked that movie) :dunno It's hard to know how they make their decisions sometimes.

At least we know we'll get quite a few batman figures in the next couple of years

Considering how marvel is bankrolling them... Sky is the limit

I suppose they weren't to know that ASM2 was gonna be pretty crap. Spiderman himself was worth making because of that outfit but nothing else. It's frustrating though that the crappiest Spiderman films get figures while there's still nothing from Raimi's Spiderman 2 and likely never will be.

That is the worst :slap that's the only reason I don't have a single spiderman figure yet, that one would be the only one worth getting imo
