Having him just not wear the helmet is enough to show visually that he is evolving. I know Anakin and Kylo's origins are similar but they are already executing Kylo a thousand times better. I still don't think it's necessary for his look to change from a story standpoint.

If they change i would think it would be partly to show that time has past. I have no idea but it could be 6 months, a year or 4 years that has passed (in the movie universe) when the next movie starts. It would be strange to see him wearing the exact same thing after a couple years and becoming more powerful. Again just a thought.

I totally expect it to change. It could be the passage of time, but also a reflection of his progressing training under Snoke.

People change clothes. Nearly everyday in my experience. The notion that a change of clothes would confuse children is one of the oddest things I have ever read on here. Imagine waking up one morning and none of your children recognize you because you changed your clothes. Preposterous. :lol

Part of the problem with geek culture is we expect movies like this to pander to us rather than a general public kind of audience. Granted you could change a characters looks completely with a group like us and not miss a beat but that is hands down NOT what is going on here, this is a Disney money making juggernaught and as such they are going to keep things recognizable and simple. Changing Kylo Rens look drastically would be like Vader looking like his iconic self in the first movie, then like an unmasked red head in ESB and finally wrapped like a mummy for RotJ. Trust me I work in this kinda business and it's called branding, you don't build up something recognizable and iconic to the average Joe then turn it on its ear, it doesn't help your merchandising.

And before somebody bites my head off about my comment of working "in this kinda business" what I mean by that is simply that I am a designer who has designed several creatures for low budget horror movies and in my full time job I design home decor and we work hard to build a "brand" as recognition amongst the average Joe as a key to success. I don't claim to be correct or have some secret inside knowledge, but I will say that if you think about it from the perspective of the Disney execs: right now amongst the general public Kylo Ren has an iconic and successful look for this new SW generation why would they change that?

Then explain Luke, whose look changed dramatically over three films.

And Han and Leia.
Not that dramatically actually, their visable heads always remained the same. Villians are a different breed in the SW universe, always masked (except for the Emperor).

I said earlier I thought his look WOULD change and become more armored, but I think the essential "recognizable" look will remain intact. Just my personal opinion, nobody will know for sure until the next movie.

I just find it odd that people actually believe major creative decisions about these movies are made in some boardroom of Disney executives.

This is 100% Kathleen Kennedy's show. She, her Lucasfilm Story Group (under Kiri Hart) and the filmmakers, writers and producers they hire are in complete creative control. Quit with the "But this is Disney" nonsense. Kennedy actually wields more power within the Disney empire than Marvel's Kevin Fiege. And after the success of TFA that's not going to change. :lol

Trust me, Disney is content with just running the Marketing and Merchandising and counting the money. They're letting LFL (under Kennedy) run these films creatively. It's very similar to Pixar and Marvel in that regard.

The moment i get charged for this 2.0 will be announced. "That is the way of things, the way of the force."

Agreed on all points, except for the bit at the end about Marvel having artistic freedom with their films.

When I went into TFA there was a fear that Disney would taint the film the way they've butchered most of Marvel's films since 2011 by making something so generic & anti-auteur that it'd be targeted at brain-dead audiences that watch movies like Bay's Transformers garbage & can't wait for installment #12.

In the end, TFA felt like a 100% Lucasfilm product. It was a fantastic starting point for the new trilogy. I was glad we didn't get a stinger. Everyone at that first show expected one but I kept telling people "Star Wars doesn't do stingers."

I'm by no means surprised that the film has a 93% on RT. Critics at the end of the day are people. Their snobbery is no match for their humanity - which TFA engaged ferociously. I honestly struggle to understand the miserable internet bunch who hated TFA. I wouldn't wanna live in a world where a film like TFA is considered ****. Thank God its an opinion exclusive to a tiny group of vitriol-filled millennials who get off by speaking their contrarian online voices.

Can't wait to read their nonsensical "EPISODE VIII is a carbon copy of..." rants in two years when Rian Johnson delivers a Best Picture Nominee and the film grosses another $2 Billion.
