Tbh ROTJ Luke should have always been a DX release.

Agreed. But considering how no one in china gives a $#!+ about the SW brand, they gotta make their money by scamming countries that do care about SW.

Rather than do the logical thing like releasing luke-effin-skywalker, one of the most famous heroes in fiction, a DX release (with a headsculpt that doesn't make me grit my teeth in disgust), they split him into TWO figures. In order to get a complete luke...we have to buy TWO SEPARATE figures. Let that sink in for a minute.

Luke is my favorite character in all of fiction. The way how HT botched this character is insulting. I regret owning part one of this figure. Immediately gave it away to my cousin.

I agree this should have been a DX release. How did Maul get a DX and Luke “friggin” Skywalker didn’t?

DX07? :D

But no I know what you mean. RotJ Luke would have been a good DX candidate. However, on the bright side, I still maintain the conviction that DX07 Luke is still HT’s best DX package to date for all of what it included.

If I’m being selfish though, I’m honestly glad RotJ Luke wasn’t a DX release, because the MMS429 release was exactly all that I wanted in a RotJ Luke. I only had an interest in the Jedi tunic and DSII outfits. Endor had zero interest from me.

This is what kills me about this hobby. Before I go on, it needs to be known that I am in no way attacking you silverstar, so what I'm about to say, please don't take it personally. You're one of the good ones that I'll always be cool with...with that being said;

Like I was saying...this is what kills me about this hobby. YOU personally may not care all that much about the endor look...but for many others, they do care about it and like myself, wish it was included in the first place ( I also wish he came with a better portrait as well).

Y'see...if it came with the endor gear, all someone has to do, should they not care for it, is either sell it off OR just put it away. It won't cost any more money on your end. In fact, if you sold it, you'd probably make some money because someone out there couldn't afford a HT luke and thought the endor gear is perfect for his own little kit bashed Luke. Ultimately, having the endor gear right from the start is harmless to those that don't care about it. Remember silverstar, im not throwing shade at you bud. Just having a conversation is all.

Hot Toys rarely does releases convenient for customers. For example, Age of Ultron Hulk had a standard and deluxe release, the standard had one portrait and it was an ugly yelling one. The deluxe came with a non-poseable alternate upper body and an angry head that was the better looking. Logically, the standard and deluxe would only be different in the alternate torso which is a big deal, but have the same heads or at least the head most would want in both. Unfortunately, they knew playing it like they did would sell more deluxe sets. For whatever reason, DX07 was a fluke of all inclusiveness for a character with multiple looks, Ledger Joker, Nicholson Joker, they were spread over multiple releases for the different looks. While collectors would benefit from truly Deluxe releases, like a ROTJ Luke with everything he wore or used in the film would be great, but it’s not financially in Hot toys best interests so they’ll never go for it.

No worries. I appreciate that.

But if you notice in my post you quoted, I mentioned that RotJ Luke would have been a good choice for a DX release. I’m just saying that being that it wasn’t, it happened to work out for me. I realize that may not have worked for everyone else, which again, is why I mentioned that RotJ would have been a good candidate for a DX release.

You're absolutely right that it wasn't in their best interests. And I hate them for that. Every now and then they'll surprise the crap out of me with releases like marvels Spider-Man from PS4...a figure I'm really excited for because they actually made an effort to replicate the aesthetics seen in the game. But for every rare gem like PS4 Spider-Man (As in a figure that effort was put into producing), we get scams like Luke skywalker.

You're right man. It's just when I see the sentiment similar to "got mine, oh well"...I get triggered haha. I'm glad you didn't take my post as being aggressive.

RotJ Luke wasn't only a good candidate for a DX release, he's a character that demands it. ESB Luke got one...how in the holy hell did RoTJ Luke NOT get one? It's one of the reasons why I couldn't do a review on him. I was severely disappointed with that figure.

Sad but true. Makes one wonder what exactly they were thinking with DX07. :lol That to me is their most generous release ever.

No worries. The majority of us are adults here. :duff

With the DX07, if I'm not mistaken, it was in conjunction with sideshow collectibles, who at the time was the sole owner of SW sixth scale license. But still, mighty generous of them at the time. Maybe someone lost a bet...or maybe it was a dare. Who knows.

Exactly. HT didn’t have the SW licence at the time, so there was no guarantee of any future releases. Also, I suspect HT used it as a “look what we can do” to Lucasfilm. And it worked because a few years later they got a licence.

Yeah, that does make sense. ROTJ Luke was always going to be the holy grail in my collection, but since I couldn't have a proper DX release, just hope that the Deluxe Version of Luke turns out well with "refined tailoring" like they stated, and a ******* gloved lightsaber hand. Still can't get over the fact that they left it out but included a gloved hand for holding a blaster, even though he only got the glove after Jabba's Sail Barge. Sent them an email about it and left a few comments but I'm not too optimistic on that...

If a DX means full package, TPM Amidala deserves it the most. Almost a new outfit for every scene.

That would be more like a paper doll set with many different outfits. There’s no way they would make a DX Amidala with ALL her looks from any given film. Too much money left on the table.

The dx07 was a gateway drug for hot toys Star Wars. It gave us a great high and got us hooked. It was so much better than any sideshow figure at the time and still holds up well. Nothing else will ever give us as much value as that first figure.
