dude, no need to be a ****** about it. Sorry if it seems I was.
Nah it's all discussion. We're just discussing and debating a topic. It's all good.

A. Lighting, the lighting of the scene will greatly affect the color of the cannons, to look 100% silver.

uh.. lighting makes copper turn silver!? um.. no. The cannon and the cleaner kit have the same exact light source in this pic:
avpr8zj4.jpg

So that light source is making the cannon appear silver while ALSO making the cleaner kit perfectly silver and copper!?

B. The cannons for the repaints done by me Les, and a few others really aen't as bright as you think they are. The ones Les and I did were dry brushed burnt sienna-gold onto a silvery like base. The pics just make it look soo bright.

Actually no. Les has 2 threads with his Wolf repaint (here and on thehunter'slair) + like 4 videos.. ALL with different light settings.

It's always the same. You can clearly see the copper coloring regardless of the light (lamps, sun).

Its hard to tell from the movie if the shoulder cannon and hand cannon has copper coloring or not. The problem is everything is so dark in the movie and on top of that the cinematographer uses some sort of filter on the colors of movie. They do that in a lot of movies these days.

Either way it's not that big a deal anyway.

Oh of course not. Just something to point out and discuss.. cuz I've seen people make the comment that the silver colored cannons are wrong so that's why they added the copper coloring. But in reality THAT'S wrong, at least in terms of "screen accurate". Because on-screen the cannons are depicted as silver, as seen in the DVD movie stills I captured and posted.

Posting the ADI book pics and using that as proof is actually strange as well because by that same thinking, all the black & white Marv statues from "Sin City" with the white bandages are wrong because the "behind the scenes" pics clearly show the bandages were actually NEON PINK.
mickeyrourke9vk9.jpg

So as far as "screen accuracy" the white bandages are correct. But if you're going by "behind the scenes" pics and using that as definitve like the one Elder Pred posted of the hand held plasma cannon from the ADI book (i.e. what you don't actually see on screen) then all the statues of Marv should've had Neon Pink bandages. lol.

I guess we have a prop accurate Wolf than :lol:lol

The cinematographer must have been a noob or something, I mean the prop department goes to all the trouble of making a cool predator suit and props with nice paint jobs, though you can't see any of it because every is filtered a bluey grey color on screen, go figure.

:rotfl

Yeah.. except the Cleaner Kit version has the cannon mounted on the left side still, which is wrong since the hand held cannon is from THAT side. :monkey5

Crazy. In the end who cares. But hey.. this IS a discussion board, so what can you do!?

You could pull out the cannon and put it in the other cannon mount I think. I think I'll just leave mine where it is, I don't wanna break it.

Seriously...who gives a

?

It's been known, FROM THE BEGINNING, that Hot Toys does not strive for "movie accuracy".

We get it...it's not accurate.

I think four pages of having it crammed down our throats is enough.

No, I'm complaining about 4 pages of it!

And it's the same thing...over and over again.

So yeah, smart guy...it is being crammed.

Its more like 1 and a half pages

Maybe you should go into everythread and tell people to stop nitpicking/discussing stuff.

Oh, and pull that stick out your ass while your at it to. :dump:moon

Perhaps we should all just move along. Some people like to examine the minutiae and let the pedant run free every now and then... I know I do!
As long as most people feel the discussion is relevant and of interest just let it run, if you're not interested in the discussion just walk away and come back when the topic has changed a little. Some times things can get a little repetitive, but not everybody has read every post and they just jump in, after all this is a 'discussion' forum.
Lets be adults and just act accordingly.

See, like said earlier, the cannons were painted with with a light drybrushing of the copper color, but the cleaer was painted completely, so, the copperish color will not be as aparent as the cleaner. Also, with the Sin City thing. One could argue that the characters are the wrong color too in the movie. Also, those bandages were used for editing purposes to make them neon white, but the copper parts on the cannons weren't.

Last post abot this.

Fortunately, HT has done a pretty remarkable job on these figures, even if they aren't completely accurate for one reason or another. Sometimes it's just impossible to get everything completely right, and I think the Cleaner Wolf is a good example of this.

It's still such a great figure, even with its flaws and inaccuracies, and the beauty of it is that he can be modified and tweaked without an awful lot of trouble into a much more screen-accurate looking figure, if you don't mind spending a little extra time and effort on him.

There was a discussion lately about how posable both the P2 and Wolf Preds are and how great it is to have the open mandible options on their later releases. I've been experimenting with a Wolf body to see if I could capture that iconic Predator roar with the Cleaner version. Part of the real beauty of it is that he can hold the pose without using a figure stand!

Unfortunately his stock neck has rather limited movement if you want to tilt his head forward or backward, so to get that classic pose with the arched back, head thrown back and mandibles wide open, it was necessary to trim away some plastic around the base of his neck, so it could tilt back far enough to look right. (It never even shows under his collar piece).

Mind you, this is still a WIP, but here are a couple of quick and very sloppy pics just to give some idea what I'm trying to achieve. I will try to post some much more interesting pics as soon as I have enough time to work out exactly the look I want and the best angles to shoot from... if anyone else is interested. :D

These figures sure are a lot of fun to play around with when you have some time to kill. :banana

Note: Kinda hard to make out how much his back is arched from this angle, I'll try to
do better next time around so you can see the difference it makes.

Edit: I pulled his cannons... they're all getting the mod treatment at the moment.

Spot on Wookster,

Not all of us have been here since the beginning like some others, and still want to talk about these figures.

I don't know what got sabres upset, maybe he/she is having his period today, though I'm sure he'll be back to normal tomorrow :D

Well, I'm not taking sides, but your last comments don't help either. As I said, lets all be adult and try not to deliberatly rile each other.

Image removed, sorry it's offensive and the line at the bottom contained a very bad word, tut, tut, tut, now go wash your mouth with soap!

I really like this pose,I think its the definitive predator pose, I think Wolf is to skinny to pull it off with his chicken legs though.

When Hot Toys release the P1 pred,I will definetely pose him that way :rock. Ready to take on Ahhnold.
