Hot Toys - MMS DX 01- The Dark Knight - The Joker spec and pics

The DX is a great announcement to me.

I think it's awesome. Kind of hard to tell what will be the next DX. It's safe to say the number 1 requirement is for the figure character to be unquestionably popular. No way a sales stinker is going to see DX treatment. The main thing about the DX announcement that struck me was how they said they'd be upping the ante on tailoring which you can witness with the degree of quality on the stitching of the waist coat in the close up picture with the suspenders. Blows the v1 stitching out of the water. Combine that with the new moving eyes system which for now seems to be DX exclusive, and pretty much any popular released or announced figure is game for DX treatment.

In my opinion though they should just ditch the DX moniker and include this level of quality in ALL their releases.

Ugh. Its obvious that some people are just gonna feel ripped off no matter what because this is forcing them to buy another? How much sense does that actually make? People ^^^^^ed about the HS on the original so they included a new one for BRJ that could be but doesn't have to be used on the V1 many people have it displayed on the BRJ like it shows in the solicits. After we got a newer better HS, people still complained the paint was too messy to be a general Joker and then focused on the Clothes. Now they are trying to make amends for that and people are still screaming and yelling. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Should they keep a figure on hold until the best possible figure can be made, possibly but then it'll be out far past the film's release because it wouldn't be officially started on until the film is out so they can see what made it into the final cut. I'm one that cannot wait and want my figures now, so I bought a v1, I see BRJ and see the upgrade. I see this and say I can have either a whole other Joker or just the Cop and sell the pieces because with all the complaining someone could earn back all of their money by parting it out right.

I still fail to see the criminalization of Hot Toys as many of you see it.

On a slightly related note, anyone notice the James Dean Gotham City cop behind good ol' Heath? Would have been funny if we saw more of the other releases dressed up in these clothes.

I guess I can't really feel like I'm being suckered because I didn't buy both the V1 Joker and the BR Joker to make the (previously considered) "perfect" Joker. That's a lot of cash to drop and discovering this new Joker is akin to feeling like HT has pulled the rug from under you.

I can understand the frustration (I bought all 3 HT Robocop figures when each were announced), but I can't understand why people are thinking this is some kind of NEW practice within collectibles companies. ARE ALL OF YOU THAT NAIVE?!?!

I think it would be cool if Hot Toys just released the new and improved Head and not completely redue the whole V1 release with similar/new clothing. That way the V1 Joker is still a collectible and all you would get is the new Head Sculpt. Hot Toys should have a line where all they sell is improved head sculpts.

I agree. To keep the v1 useful, all they would have had to do was make the new overcoat, add some hands and the new sculpt. Skip reissuing the whole V1 outfit. Then at least I wouldn't feel like I wasted my money last summer.

It wouldn't make much sense to include an unusable coat in this set. To those buying this set -- having a loose purple coat isn't helpful ... and it isn't going to bring in any customers that they didn't already have. If you aren't going to give the entire outfit -- don't give any of it.

Um, no I'm buying this new one, have it preordered in fact. But he does make a good point some people are just too obsessed and blinded to see it. I won't blame HT entirely us greedy collectors are just as guilty. If anyone here thinks that some company is in it entirely for us they are clearly mistaken. Money is first, the consumer is last. Terminator, do you think if they just lost you and me that they'd actually give a damn? Of course not.

Well now I will say that if anyone were to think THIS way is an idiot. Of course its business first, in any form of commerce it is and alway will be too. I wouldn't think of myself as an obsessed fan though, aside from this I only have the Godfather on preorder. I'm very selective but I don't think its very mature to label this company as a "Monty Burns" (Not saying that you said that)

They are nothing short of fantatic in my eyes. I laugh when people claim to be "cheated" Grow up!

Is the sculpt the BR sculpt repainted and given the movable eyes system?

An interchangeable and new make-up Joker head featured with Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS) and Translucent Iris.

It looks pretty similar. Not sure. Experts?

if u stand v1 with br sculpt next to the dx version-there wouldnt be that much major diffrence- the new pers sculpt looks too similar to br.

I'm pumped for this release. My V1 Joker with BR head is already interrogation room Joker. June/July can't come soon enough. I can understand some feeling frustration over this, I just don't agree. If your happy with your V1 Joker with BR head, you should be content. It looks awesome! However, I'm all for the upgrade. I'll buy whatever Batman figures HT rolls out. I'm a sucker and I freely admit it
