Great repaint cr0w. What I like about yours is, it still has all the detail. That's my biggest problem with a lot of the other repaints I've seen with this head sculpt: people put so much paint on, it ends up looking like a lady's face cream mask. :lol

Plus I didn't like how shiny it was

The white make-up on my DX Joker head sculpt is 100% flat.

Interesting. I don't know if shiny was the right word. It didn't have that...I dunno, powdery look to it that make-up does. It looked like paint instead of make-up. Does that make sense?

And thanks, I tried really hard to keep the detail intact. It was really just some light drybrushing over the factory paintjob and a few touch-ups here and there.

Here Joker asks if anyone really thinks they can improve on the HT paint apps:

Yeah, I agree. And Crow did do a nice job with the detail.

Good call on the technique you used. And if it looks better to you than it's better. :D

As to the flat look: I'll have to go back and check, but I always pictured Joker putting on a kind of cream makup not a powder. :dunno

Given that his forehead was apparently recently sandblasted, I'd say yes. I just don't like the "pitted" look the factory paint job gave his face. Like Edward James Olmos as The Joker. The makeup, if I recall correctly, was grease paint or something similar. The black and red makeup tended to have a cream finish to it, especially the black, as its wet finish was really apparent during the mob scene, but white makeup tends to have a powdery look to it no matter what type it is. Same thing with white paint, which is why it's pretty hard to drybrush on correctly. It tends to thicken up and dry really quickly.

just got this today...opened it about an hour or two ago and i was blown away. i was really amazed by the whole box, and the figure, the detail/eyes are amazing, and (no offense to anyone) as amazing as some pics are, the just dont do the figure justice, cuz once you move the eyes for real, it's mind boggling.

The white was actually Telesis Skin Illustrator. The black was Kryolan Aquacolor and the red was just your basic Maybeline lipstick.

The black is water activated you and you are right you can really see how shiny it is in the mob scene.

I really love this one!

No problem man. After the makeup was put on they used an Evian spray to get all the drips and runs. Redken Disrupt to style his hair and something called "Jeans Green" by alfaparf to color it. All this stuff is actually still available except the green hair color. Unfortunatly its not made anymore and I couldnt find any old stock anywhere.

I researched all this when putting my costume together last year. I was able to get in touch with his makeup artist and hair stylist from the film and they graciously gave me all that info.
