Guys... I know this is a bit off track. But i never bought a batman. I have everything else but had left that decision for later. Some advise needed, for the ones who have both is the dx12 or dx09 what is better in hand. I wish i cld buy both but with current prices thats not going to happen.

I have both and both are great in my opinion.

But personally, I prefer DX09 since that's the Batman I grew up with. Plus the fact that HT nailed it's accuracy to a tee.

Straight out of the box the DX09

If you want to mod the DX12 then you can get it looking pretty good

Ultimately I think it all depends on which version of Batman you like better and whether you want to just take it straight outta the box and not have to do anything to it

Without question the DX09 wins all day long and twice on Sunday's. The DX12 will look great with some mods.

It's a great figure to be sure, but it's a dorky looking Batman suit by today's standards. It boils down to movie preference in my opinion, not Hot Toys production standards. If someone's looking for that Tim Burton nostalgia, then yeah, DX09. But if you prefer the Nolan take on the franchise, DX12.

Can you mod DX12 to make it look more movie accurate? Yes - but the same goes for every single Hot Toys product to varying degrees. Do you need to do any mods for it to look great? No. It looks great right out of the box - like most Hot Toys products.

Oh I agree buddy I'm not a perfectionist by any means and the DX12 was great out of the box but a custom cape is a must for him and I would say painting the eye lids is also too.

I can't agree on the '89 suit looking dorky by todays standards as it looks better than the Nolan suits. Not by much but enough for me to prefer it.

Thanks, Sid. I aint going by anyones especially pixelpiper there ;) advice who says all hot toys prods look great outta the box. Hence my preference is also dx09. My reasoning was to buy dx12 and then buy returns keaton only cause i dont want 3-4 batman on my shelf. But not sure when that will come out. Also that suit is slightly different i guess. And if i buy dx09 then i have 2 keatons when returns comes out. Dilemma dilemma!

My design aesthetic is more a balance of form and function with a heavy focus on usability, so I greatly prefer the utilitarian and greater "realism" (note the quotes there) of the Nolan designs, even if they have little to no relevance to the comic-based origins. Even back in 89 when I saw the original movie, I instantly disliked the sculpted muscles on the suit - they serve no functional purpose and from a flourish perspective look somewhat cheesy.

If I collected Batman (in general), I'd probably have both, but since I don't, I stuck to what film series I prefer - and then only to the two figures I felt would fit best with my display space. Everyone has different reasons/ways for/of collecting.

And when it comes to mods, these are finished collectibles to me, so I'd like to preserve what the artists created, so I save my creativity for my own designs, dios, backgrounds, customs, bashes, etc. That's not to say I'm opposed to making mods at any time, it's just not something I enter into without absolute necessity, like replacing a broken body on my Medicom Henry Jones Sr. as well as painting his hat and shoes the correct colors. On DX12 I quite like the eyes in their factory-fresh condition. The gloves are probably what stick out in my mind the most, but they don't bother me enough to mod them. The cowl, again doesn't bother me enough. The cape, fine and not a focal point with some futzing - especially from typical viewing distance and in the environment I'm displaying.

For anyone into light bashing and frequent reposing, DX12 offers a wealth of possibilities as there are so many simple mods and aftermarket parts/accessories available. If that's your thing, that's cool, just another aspect of the hobby and something I also enjoy with custom/kitbash figures.

I love DX12 because the latest batman with lots of new gadgets, I guess? And because of Bale.
Somehow, when i displayed DX09, its kinda weird....the Keaton is much cooler! Looks solid.....and the body so nice even better than DX12, I guess.....Classic looking and yeah Bat is from past.
Still love to keep them both and the joker...jack is awesome too.
If you dont have joker, consider to have dx 11 and jack....its crazy!

If you can wait for the Returns version then getting the DX12 maybe be the better option for you as it stands buddy.

Here is my DX12 (after removing the PERS joystick to move the eyes independently) -

Hopefully all mods are now finished -

You think the suit abs and bright yellow logo is less 'dorky' than nolan's? The keaton suit would be a ridiculously funny cliché if used in today's movies. I get the appeal of the '89 batman because of it's childhood nostalgia, but really, wat.
