HT sometimes does that as a favor to its homebase collectors. They will relase a figure early in HK and not ship them overseas until the original scheduled time. It maybe hard to understand, but they do that once in while to keep their fans in HK happy.
I think that's kind of b.s. if they do that personally. Granted I understand that's where they're based out of, but the Asian markets already get the figures earlier than everywhere else to begin with. Seems sort of unfair to their other customers to hold back products to satisfy a certain group. One group's money shouldn't be any better than another's. I don't know if I honestly believe they do that though, it would seem like a weird business practice. Besides if they have something ready to go and ship out to customers it seems sort of silly that they'd sit on product rather than ship it out and collect their profits.

yeah unfair is the right word, but I think its Hot Toys call in the end, but I can't see that being true either as it seems very wierd.

Yeah honestly that wouldn't even make sense. Like I said why would they want to sit on product longer rather than ship out and profit? To satisfy their Asian fans? How exactly is that even more satisfying exactly, just that they get it for a few months longer before other parts of the world? Doesn't seem like a very logical choice from a business stance. I think that's untrue honestly.

It could also be Sideshows shipping schedule, maybe they have so much on their plate, they don't want to prematurely move the release date up and then back several times.......

bit of a stretch though

I think it's due to shipping schedules. It's out earliest in HK and sideshow has to get their stock shipped to them which takes awhile and then from there, they need to ship out to their different warehouses to distribute to each buyer. Even in Asia, HT's official distributor for Singapore gets their shipment around 3 weeks to a month after HK release day.

I too would figure it's related to transit time, plus these things have to clear customs. Retailers are gonna put pressure on HT to deliver as soon as possible after they roll out of the factories, as they can't collect the full payment until it's in stock. A staggered release only makes sense to cater to the biggest markets, and you gotta figure the US, Japan, and probably HK/China are the top 3 markets for HT, so there's really no reason for HT to purposely delay US releases. Just my best guess.

Well then its settled, I'm moving to Hong Kong

Very nice armor...just not feeling like it is essential to my collection...but it is tempting..

Keeping your figures in the dark may result in seasonal depression and suicidal thoughts. 1:6 people need vitamins D, too.

lol. Somewhere in between tends to be good. But I don't get people who keep their collections completely away from any natural light. I try to avoid having the sun beating down on mine all day, but if a little gets in at dawn or dusk, whatever. And during the day, well, the collection never looks as good under artificial light as it does under a nice afternoon diffused sunshine.
