another HT IM? Really? Easy pass. Still got my Mark IV. HT is just getting annoying with their re-releases.

Annoying?! Lol... sorry they are disappointing you. LOL. WTF do you think you are?

They are a business. Trying to be profitable.

The top 3 lines that we will see more and more re-releases from are the Iron, Batman and Predators!!! Because they are the top HT $$$ makers!!!! I think they will reissue the Joker and P1 Predator soon!!

I have read through all the threads...and i do believe its kinda of lame for HT to reissue figs....just leave em be and move on...

I'm still excited about it.

It is even worse for collectors in Singapore;
The gantry without figure is going at pre-order of $450 SGD while the gantry + figure is going at $650 SGD...superb high pricing and this is truly reserved for the die-hard IronMan collectors, :)

Thats fine that they want to be profitable. I understand its a business... But don't put "Limited Edition" or "Exclusive Collectibles" then years later reissue the so called "Limited Edition"...Whats the point of having a"Limited Edition" if its not. People pay top $$$ for Exclusive items. Whats the point of paying that kinda price if its NOT exclusive? :dunno

Limited edition is a buzz phrase. To hype up interest and urgency among consumers. Nine times out of ten Limited Edition means nothing. Technically, ALL products are Limited Edition.

Well, I am not very happy with this. Not because I already own a Mark IV; but because I Wish they would've AT LEAST changed the head sculpt! I would've happily bought the Gantry as well as the figure. Come on Hot Toys! Couldn't you have given us the grinning Tony instead? He's a happy-go-lucky guy and all we've had so far are the strange angry and brooding expressions. He's not the ******* Batman for pete's sake! I Wish they would've done this instead:

I don't mind the gantry release, it's kinda cool in it's own right & would make a nice display on it's own for collectors. Will this fit in a Detolf without having to modify it?

Releasing the figure as optional is great for those who didn't get it the first time around, but I think HT dropped the ball by not giving us a different RDJ head sculpt. By the looks of recent releases the HT sculptors are mediocre & sometimes plain bad at sculpting expressions (Sucker Punch Amber & Casual Bruce Lee come to mind) which is why they seem to stay away from them for the most part. It's really unfortunate for characters who would benefit from expressions like RDJ here, Thor, etc.

The rumored price point of $300+ for the Gantry alone is absurd, as is the price of nearly $500 for the Gantry + Mark IV. Buying the both & selling off the figure is interesting, but odds are the secondary market is going to flood with Mark IV's and their value will drop drastically, so taking the initial $500 plunge is risky.

HT really wants to make sure that ppl buy some form of the Mark IV - whether it be regular or secret project :panic:

I think in general what's happening is that the number of collectors are growing and thanks to forums like these HT is aware that the newer collectors are willing to pay more than msrp to get their hands on some of the older releases. HT sees this as an opportunity to revisit (and in most cases vastly improve an older release - recently announced Batman Begins OC and Mark II AU come to mind immediately) and then re-release it in some form so those who missed out have an opportunity to get one.

This is probably a HT first that they are releasing an accessory essentially. And with it they are attaching a figure in case you missed out. It's a great business strategy and one that at least I feel HT hopes gives an opportunity for new collectors to pick up on something they might have missed out on. Those who have one already get the gantry alone...or simply pass.

I think the frustration is mostly from collectors who already own the Mark IV (I myself picked up the VI) and I feel the pain as well. Had HT announced both the figure and this gantry setup simultaneously then it would've been fair to everyone. But let's not kid ourselves - in the end this is all about maximizing $$ and I wouldn't be surprised that more of such continues to take place.

For me the maximum limit for this gantry alone, is $250 i wont consider anything above that.

If this is the future for hot toys, releasing things their loyal fans cant afford then secrew 'em.

If they were to release 2 figures a quarter at these prices then thats fine, but if they continually pump out more and more release each quarter at larger and larger prices then fans like myself which have to choose one figure out of four up for order and they will lose money on those 3 that are priced too high.

Agreed. HT has really multiplied its production and licenses. As collectors its more important than ever for us to have a focused collection.

HT really

They first did it with the Power loader four years ago.Ripley was a seperate figure then they announced the loader and threw the figure in.

Business rule 1 - make a profit
Business rule 2 - make a product people want
Business rule 3 - make your product fit the market
Business rule 4 - keep your target consumer base
Business rule 5 - don't flood the market

HT can do all of these if they want, at the moment, if they continue this trend of high prices and flooding the market they will acomplish only rule 2

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Gantry

Just saw this on FB. Seems lame IMO.

Not feeling it either. Iron Man is a power house seller for HT with stuff like this making it to production. I doubt we see drones however. Stark tech sells.

Think about it though, HT really is flooding the market right now, in the fourth quarter there is...

Iron Man Mark 2
Iron Man Mark 5
Superman
Sucker Punch Baby Doll
Sucker Punch Amber
Captain America
Avatar Jake Sully

So with this amount available, loyal customers and new customers will have to choose between figures rather than buy many.

If they released less per quarter and cut down on the amount being produced all at once, then customers who would pass on one for another would buy that one.

I've cancelled the MK 2 in favour of the Avatar, if Avatar was released in first quarter 2012 i would've bought the MK 2.

Couple this this the flagrant after market scalping and HT is losing out on even more profit, that could've been there's if that product was released later, and customers didnt have to miss out on the product because there was too much at once.

LOL to everyone saying HT is milking the line! LMAO... You people are so stupid. Most of you are just pissed because the value of your MK IV just went down... well guess what... GREED is motivating your comment. Just like GREED is motivating HT. This will make money. It's not Milking ... its smart business.

I.E. Apple is NOT milking the ipod everytime they release a shipment of new ipods. (And Im not talking about redesigned ipod)

you can't compare apple to hot toys - completely different product and market type, partially because at the core of apple's product portfolio is the ipod. they will continue to make and sell them for years to come. HT advertises limited edition figures. their whole strategy has always been make figures from a line to a limited number, move on.

and what you've described IS milking - "just like greed is motivating HT". the fact that it's smart business doesn't mean that they're not pulling that iron man teat extra hard. personally, i think this diorama is awesome, and it probably took some engineering. but i'm not excited by it. not because i'm greedy and give a flying ____ how much my mark IV is now worth, but because they have so many other licenses that are sorely lacking that they could give us products for.

also, you're a moron for calling people stupid.
