Now describe her scenes.
That's true -- and I remember at the time people were pissed that Boba did so little, just like now with Phasma.
BUT... shooting at Luke Skywalker, hanging with Bounty Hunters, arguing with Darth Vader... just being present for Han's freezing -- all very cool. He was present for a lot of great scenes. Didn't do much, but he had many scenes. Just challenging Vader alone made him cool.
Phasma... asked permission, was hiding in a ship for some reason, and got tackled... then betrayed her own Order rather than go down fighting. And worst of all -- her voice sounds like a hospital intercom.
That's of course a legitimate argument but Phasma so far doesn't have the on-screen activity to even rival what we saw of Boba on-screen. "Let me check how many pew-pews you did" ?
Right? It's not like he did anything special in Empire either. Not saying anything bad about the Fett man but this reaction of, "She is no Boba Fett!" is a little off base.
Boba in Empire:
On the Star Destroyer with the bounty hunter line up. Line: "As you wish."
Follows the Falcon to Cloud City
Walks in behind Vader after the trap is revealed.
Standing outside the room where Han is being tortured. Glances at Lando.
Walks out with Vader. Line: "He's no good to me dead."
Standing with Vader in the Carbon Chamber.
Walking with the carbonited Han.
Shoots at Luke once or twice.
At Slave I. Line: "Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold."
Leaves in Slave I.
So with the exception of firing his blaster he didn't do much more than Phasma. And she had more lines I believe. Stop with the outrage of people comparing her character equivalent to Fett.
Now describe her scenes.
I'm not arguing that anything she did in TFA makes her a badass/great character. I'm arguing that just because she got ambushed in this movie does not erase whatever prior military record earned her the right to wear a unique armor within the FO, nor does it preclude her from being a badass in future films if/when she has more screen time. I used Boba Fett as an example to illustrate that one embarrassing instance does not make the character a complete chump. And that while we don't yet know Phasma's full story, we know there likely IS a badass character there (going solely by appearance/the fact that she has a unique armor in an army of conformity), similar to how we know Boba Fett is a badass, even though we don't see much of that take place on screen.
To spin this thread back onto track, I intend to keep my Phasma PO. She didn't get a lot of screentime, but I base my toy purchases off whether it's a toy I'd like to own/look at, and she looks cool. If there's a cool on-screen presence behind the toy, that's a bonus for me, but not the sole requirement.
But he did it when we were 10 years old versus 40 something and we had no expectations of the character going in. At least I didn't. It made the character mysterious to me and I wanted to know more. If Phasma hadn't been revealed as a toy and in trailers, I would've thought "Gee, I wonder what's so special about that trooper with the chrome? I want to know more!".
For the record, I have Phasma on pre-order and will be keeping it because it is aesthetically pleasing and I have hopes for a larger role in Episode VIII.
Saw the blackseries 6 inch in store today nearly picked it up as looked really nice good value at £21.99 but dont want to start collecting a different line
I feel sorry for those who PO'd this
