Force Awakens.. Painfully bad? :lol :rotfl

I could understand this if the movie was actually bad. But, it's precisely the opposite. We get the first Star Wars film in nearly 33 years that elegantly captures the essence of Star Wars in a beautiful way, with a GREAT cast that has GREAT chemistry. Real props and less CGI like everyone was begging for. They finally deliver this to us, and some people are letting their hatred for Disney, Abrams, Lucasfilm, (who knows what it is) get in the way of enjoying this film. Quit finding things to hate, and actually enjoy the fact that we are getting new Star Wars. And it's GOOD!!! It's an amazing time to be alive. The golden age of the superhero movies and now the golden age of Star Wars movies.

Why??? Ever think some people buy a figure because they like it and don't care about screen time? Just as you make those awesome custom figures that had little to no screen time and display them, people will do the same with this and display it. Because they like it :)

Its not the lack of screen time that bothered me it was the fact that she is a commander and we were all led to believe she was this total badass commander only to have her captured by an old man and a janitor, who force her to help destroy the base. What did they do tickle her?

If Lucas had made this he would say that "she is an emerging character."

So many trolls. So little time.

It was pretty comical reading through the last 4 pages of this thread. I should have brought popcorn. I guess people should feel sorry for me twofold because I pre-ordered this figure day one and I loved the movie. I've seen it twice thus far and I'm going again tonight. Take pity on me my fellow freaks! For I know not how to spend my own money and time in productive ways suited to others' wants and needs!

Give me a f@cking break :lol

I like the design, and my daughter likes the character; as limited as the character was utilized in the current movie, I might pick this up later if it reaches discount. This figure will look great in my daughters collection.

I don't see how the fact that she got ambushed while off-guard in her own base affects the "badassedness" of her prior military record by any stretch.

That's like saying Boba Fett wasn't a badass bounty hunter because he got taken out accidentally by a blind dude flailing about.

It was also rather clear from pre-release interviews that her character was a late addition to the script, and was primarily being set up for inclusion in future movies, so I'm not sure where you got your expectations, but mine were tempered accordingly.

Not crazy about all the Boba comparisons with this character. Maybe in time, but Boba Fett we saw do cool things in Empire before his silly death in Jedi. We haven't seen her do anything yet. If all Boba was was what we saw in ROTJ, most fans/collectors wouldn't care about him all that much.

...Boba Fett got owned by a blind Solo, and a 1950's era campy sand dwelling creature. Captain Phasma was owned by traitor Finn and an old Solo...so parallels of lameness exist in both.

DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE. Spoilers ahead, they will show up in your e-mail notification despite spoiler tag!

SPOILER:
Wondering who's going to buy this figure now that you've seen the movie? Considering the disappointing screen-time for such an amazingly cool looking character I just can't justify buying this anymore.. No action scenes at all. She just gets wrecked and thrown into the garbage. :slap

Exactly like Boba Fett, yet everyone LOOOOOVES him.

What I don't get with Phasma is that she's only a captain, but she has unique armour.

When more of this brave new world is shown, what will other higher officers be wearing, and how will they be distinguished from mere captains?

She's no Boba Fett. I would be happy if she did as much as him in either of his two films.

Phasma is more like a Royal Guard with a 3 lines. Quite literally a 4th tier background character.

The dude who owned the M. Falcon had more screen time and was more significant to the movie.

Oh, definitely. Following a ship, and then calling another dude to tell him where the ship went, and then escorting some cargo onto his ship. He was a regular John McClane-level badass in Empire.

Boba just doesn't have the on-screen activity to back up the gravitas/mythos that now surrounds the character. The cool appearance/armor came first, and the legend took shape after the fact.

That's true -- and I remember at the time people were pissed that Boba did so little, just like now with Phasma.

BUT... shooting at Luke Skywalker, hanging with Bounty Hunters, arguing with Darth Vader... just being present for Han's freezing -- all very cool. He was present for a lot of great scenes. Didn't do much, but he had many scenes. Just challenging Vader alone made him cool.

Phasma... asked permission, was hiding in a ship for some reason, and got tackled... then betrayed her own Order rather than go down fighting. And worst of all -- her voice sounds like a hospital intercom.

That's of course a legitimate argument but Phasma so far doesn't have the on-screen activity to even rival what we saw of Boba on-screen. "Let me check how many pew-pews you did" ?

Maybe her mere presence in other scenes might have helped, as Wor mentions with Boba. Definitely felt like most of the important battle scenes and other moments had been filmed before she was added.

Right? It's not like he did anything special in Empire either. Not saying anything bad about the Fett man but this reaction of, "She is no Boba Fett!" is a little off base.

Boba in Empire:
On the Star Destroyer with the bounty hunter line up. Line: "As you wish."
Follows the Falcon to Cloud City
Walks in behind Vader after the trap is revealed.
Standing outside the room where Han is being tortured. Glances at Lando.
Walks out with Vader. Line: "He's no good to me dead."
Standing with Vader in the Carbon Chamber.
Walking with the carbonited Han.
Shoots at Luke once or twice.
At Slave I. Line: "Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold."
Leaves in Slave I.

So with the exception of firing his blaster he didn't do much more than Phasma. And she had more lines I believe. Stop with the outrage of people comparing her character equivalent to Fett.
