I took the jacket off. It was tough to get the saber through the jacket arm though when putting it back. Felt like it could damage bother the electric saber and the jacket arm hole. But it did take about 5 minutes.

I've got his jacket off now (which was more difficult than I expected), but I'm still not sure what to pull on to disconnect his elbow. That pin? The instructions make it look like the whole lower arm will just pop off in a snap! LOL.

Excellent figure. Happy I decided to get him!

Cold cathode sabers the way to go.. No frustration required.

Looks awesome! Where can one get that saber?

Also, do you happen to know the proper way to hang his gun over his shoulder, K1NG? Is it using the big loop or the little loop on the gun's strap or what?

Thanks! And send Pixelpiper a PM. :wink1: He makes them.

I haven't done that yet but it's definitely the big loop.

Great pictures guys! It is indeed a great figure.

Nice figure in hand but he just looks pissed off. I wish they sculpted him looking perplexed with his mouth slightly opened--his look for every scene in TFA

But then his teeth will be exposed and everyone will panic just like the Rey figure! Lol

Really liking this figure except as others mentioned, much too tall. Also his legs are too straight. He's kinda bow legged in real life. Figure is much too long legged.

One thing that worries me about shortening him is the jacket is already pretty big. Seems like the proportions aren't bad on the stock figure. Just toot tall of course.

I'm also having an embarrassingly hard time trying to put on Finn's electronic arm.

I pulled on his arm to swap it out and only his forearm came without the elbow. Now I can't seem to get the rest of the arm out. I don't know if I'm supposed to pull on this "pin" until it comes out or what. =/

That kept on happening to mine. I had to take the jacket off that arm and pull it out.

I got this a few weeks back and opened it yesterday. It's an incredible bag of "meh" in my opinion. I'm not sure why. I guess it's an ok figure i did the height mod but didn't really think it was a problem before that. The head I Don't know if it's a good likeness or not. Maybe because I don't really care.

I guess like the character the figure just does not excite me, felt like something I had to buy.

I don't really understand the point of this character, maybe he will become less useless in future movies and at least a little likeablle so this figure will actually mean more. Though by the time that happens I'm sure there will be three updated versions of this guy in this outfit.

Wow.

I've heard from people for whom Finn was not their personal favorite, or that he was less than a central character, but this has to be the most visceral description of dislike I've seen.

Every time I hear this stuff I have to raise an eyebrow and wonder if they saw the same movie I did. I realize it's all subjective, and there is certainly room for growth in his character (and I think that precisely the point of his role in TFA), but when someone dislikes Finn this much I can't help but wonder if there was something about him that predetermined that there was no way he was going to be liked regardless of his contribution.

Strange paying for a Hot Toys figure of a character you weren't keen on in the first place.

It's the completionist in me. Not that I need every kind of stormtrooper or a lesser character but the central cast from a movie I really liked is a given.

I had no preconceived opinions of Finn one way or another but I fail to see his general value and purpose in the movie or the storyline. Other than deflecting from the first order he had no real story or motivation, it's clear there is more to Rey to link her to the overarching Star Wars story. And sure Han Solo had no link to the overall mythology but he was a likeable character that added value. It seems Finn was just clumsy, getting in the way or having to be saved by other characters all the time. He added about as much value as jar jar bunks, more just along for the ride.

I'm excited to see where they take his character though, for such a central character with so little to offer it makes me think he has the most passive potential for evolution and growth.

Wrote this earlier but my wireless cut out. So a little late to the party. Was definitely curious how far you were going with this line. Any of the stormtrooper variants?

(Wrote before everyone also chimed in)
Man, maybe this was not the figure for you if you thought he was a useless character. :lol

I was a bit underwhelmed when I opened the package but this figure/outfit has always been very pedestrian (guy with his motorcycle jacket and a messenger bag) and I think I might just prefer having Finn Stormtrooper on my shelf and no Stormtrooper.

I considered just selling it back off but it was nice to have a hero next to Ren so I'll hold off on that--based on the activity here and the head sculpt change and the height issues this one seems like it's headed for the discount bin. On a low shelf I think the likeness is pretty good though. I haven't bothered to do the height mod yet.

As far as his contribution. He did break Poe out of captivity and help get things going with Rey. His guidance and insight into the first order does seem necessary throughout several steps of the film. Always surprised to see him compared to Jar Jar.
