When comparing a figure's sculpt's likeness to the actual character, compare it to a photo of the actor/actress as that character; not a random photo of the actor/actress. :lecture

I don't know, I think they did a pretty good job with the head sculpt. I see it and instantly think Daisy Ridley as Rey. I'm not seeing Tom Cruise, Sigourney Weaver or Michael B. Jordan in this one.

My sentiments as well.

I would almost guarantee that the many people here who claim a certain sculpt looks like someone else other than who the sculpt is intended to be, that if the sculpt was actually intended to be who they say it actually looks like instead, they would then say it looks more like the person that they say it doesn't look like. :lol

For instance, a Daisy Ridley intended sculpt looks more like Sigourney Weaver, but I'd be willing to wager that many people here would claim a Sigourney Weaver intended sculpt looks more like Daisy Ridley.

People did the same thing with the Civil War Ant Man figure that comes with the unmasked Paul Rudd sculpt. People claimed the sculpt looked like a younger Ben Affleck, but I would wager that people would claim a Ben Affleck sculpt looks like an older Paul Rudd.

And even if that was the case, has it ever occurred to anyone that just possibly, there are people who have identical facial features?

:exactly: which is why my comparison was a pic from Rey in the movie not a photo of Daisy and the expression she had in that pic is to emphasize that she can make that weird wide eyed blank expression ( She actually did it a lot in the film if you go back and really pay attention ) like HT did with the teeth barely showing :lecture

My Sideshow order arrived directly from Hong Kong. In hand the likeness is spot on. Pictures don't do the figure justice. As for teeth I can't tell. It looks like there's some faint teeth marking (is there pics for comparison?) but it really doesn't bother me either way.

I can see Weaver in this sculpt. I think it's the under bite. I can also see Daisy though.

I have to say though, that sculpt, in that image at least looks nothing like Rudd. I've seen no other images to modify my opinion yet though.

Yup, I love that the "looks nothing like her" crew is back in full force now that she's shipped. The idea of people picking her up and not knowing which character from Star Wars she's supposed to be makes me laugh.

Also:

Worst comparison ever.

Its actually a perfect comparison because you immediately see two things:

1) the figure doesn't have Daisy's head shape. The figure's head is much smaller than Daisy's and lacks her head shape.

2) Daisy's eyes are nothing like the figure's.

The figure got some things right like the nose, mouth and chin but ultimately fails in two major details - that are the head shape and eye shape.

See, that's where this becomes so subjective. I think it looks like Paul Rudd.

Exactly, it's subjective. To say someone's "delusional" for thinking a sculpt is good or bad is just being a ****. I think this sculpt looks just like Daisy as Rey, especially when you compare it to the shot guyver posted, but that's just my opinion. I don't think people who feel otherwise are wrong or delusional, that's just their opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, who am I to judge. I still stand by my beliefs and I can honestly say this is the best Daisy as Rey hs that I've seen in figure form doesn't mean there won't be better down the line..I know there will be, but for now, it's gets my vote as realism in an action figure

I still think the corner profile is the angle to capture her facial structure the best, especially if you crane her neck like Daisy does as Rey

Again it's not 100% spot on..but I like the likeness

Very true also. Many times, the expressions they give sculpts are based on an expression that the character made at one point or another in the film. Other times, they give them just a generic, stoic expression that doesn't really conform to any point in the film.

When I judge a likeness of a sculpt, I'm not basing it on whether or not it looks like a particular actor or actress as themselves; I'm basing it on whether or not it looks like that particular actor or actress as the character.

Not sure if these were customized or done by HT, but if the latter, I hope mine comes like this:

At this point if you dont think the fig captures Rey then best not to get her. She has been out for months now... we have seen many pics, video reviews and comments from owners. Save the cash if the HS really bothers you. Personally, Im going to get her because when the next Rey comes out I plan to cover this one up in full scavenger to represent her look in TFA.

:exactly: The norm of HT and the females is they give that generic expression, but what works for this particular sculpt is that Daisy as Rey gave a lot of the blank wide eyed expressions as I mentioned in her character, more than anyone else in the film IMO :lecture

Was told tonight that my figures haven't shipped out today due to Labour Day. She MIGHT be shipped out tomorrow instead. So disappointed! It's at least days shipping meaning I won't receive her until next week now. Damn........

Well I guess I'm in the happy-camp. For me this HS is pretty damn good! Can/will it be improved upon? Maybe, (if tackled by someone other than HT's- he he he.)

Just get this shipped out Sideshow... stat!

Nope that's the HT stock sculpt under my cheap night lamp over my bed. I'm no pro at photography, but my crazy ocd artistic nature in me knows how to catch the light and angles when I shoot. Well I try at least..doesn't always turn out right, my camera is old and mediocre. needs to be updated :lol
