Despite all the good gasps of happiness about this figure- I still say HT dropped the ball on a production job that looks rushed to me. The armor just looks cheap in places (grade of plastic?) and tailoring is off. The seam hair area bothers me like it wasn't tweaked out in production. Overall, just looking at it, it looks 80-90% THERE but not quite what HT is capable of...GR looks much more refined and typical of HT. In the effort to get this out within weeks of the movie I think HT rushed and took shortcuts on this figure.
I'm not saying it is a waste- it is still FAR better than most 1/6 out there- and the hammer and helmet look great, it just isn't a total win for me.

That sucks for you. I would be bummed if I felt the same way but I cannot personally say you're more wrong overall. Sorry man :duff

I hate to agree with you but it just isn't quite there. It hs all the elements of a perfect figure but won't wow anyone who isn't a Thor fan. Thor fans are eating this up, metaphorically speaking, so it's still a win.

I suspose thats all figures though. But Ghost Rider felt better quality as you said.

Well i got my hammer from buy costumes (awesome) and now i'm just hoping it will hold me over till thor gets here tuesday from CSC.

I hate holidays delaying shipments...

You hit it there- THOR fans eat it up (great) and can't see problems. I look at it carefully compared to other recent HT product and it lacks that final pinch of HT magic- finishing that often holds up their releases for months...yet the end product justifies it. See what I'm saying??:wave

I'm a Thor fan and have compared it to the other HT Marvel figures I have and it matches up just fine. Just saying :wave

Its not perfect though as I said in my review. Helm should have been metal like the hammer and we should have gotten two hammers. The rest kicks ass.

I didn't receive mine yet but your review seems fair.

I just hope that HT doesn't get into the business of rushing a product out like it's done in the videogame business. :nono

Are you happy with the way they did the armor? I'm satisfied and it's a good compromise but on a stunning HT figure that would look better. It's all the way it folds that loses the illusion. But again that way shown on the proto and I didn't expect a fix.

I think it's unfair to say that Hot Toys makes their normal releases more perfect than they did this one and it seems rushed by comparison, especially if you look at past hot toys releases.

Take TDK, they wanted to push those figures out for the movie, and without a properly sculpted likeness of Heath Ledgers joker, they released the V1 joker anyway. Sure they made up for it, TWICE, and ganked more money out of people in the process by getting them to buy two new figures through skillfull release.

First heres the apology figure Bank Robber, with a new head for your original joker and the gun you wanted. Then a little while later, oh here's a whole new DX joker thats leaps and bounds beyond the original so you can just replace him entirely.

Thats a bit of slap in the face to me, but in the same vein as you guys saying thor fans eat up this figure because their thor fans, i say hot toys fans eat up stuff like that because they are just hot toys fans.

Yeah DX joker is an amazing figure, but it was still poorly done by hot toys, instead of sending out a half assed figure like the V1 they should have gotten things right from the beginning.

Whats worse is they did it again with Batman, and then iron man, twice....

So i think it's unfair to call thor rushed because he doesn't meet your standards or compare to some other hot toys release, when it can easily be said about ALOT of their figures, they release good product, but it's never perfect, sometimes its outright wrong, they do tend to try and fix it but they don't always get it right the first time.

Yeah, I'm totally happy with it. I said as much as my review that I was. I think the figure is stunning and love the way it turned out.

Hah yeah i forgot to even mention that little issue... :D

Thing is no figure is going to please everyone, just don't assume that those who do like something you don't clearly only like it because they love the character and don't realize that the figure is flawed, it's flawed in your eyes but not necessarily in everyone elses.

And to gala, yes the hammer is great thanks for posting about it!

Seeing as Thor 2 is officially coming out July 26th 2013 anybody think the chances of seeing an Avenger Thor are slim?

I don't think that Thor will warrant having 3 figures in 3 years due to the lack of costume change.

I'd want them to skip an Avengers Thor and wait for Thor 2. However that means we'd miss out on some awesome box art akin to the Iron Man 2 line for The Avengers.

Oh if they continue to make tweaks I'd bet we see figures.

Yeah, and don't forget a battle damaged, final battle or whatever other type armor they decide to give him. I'm sure his look will change drastically at some point.

I agree with you about the helm, but why would we need two hammers? Besides the fact that they are one of the coolest accessories ever?

I don't see why they wouldn't release him with the Avengers. Look at how many Iron Man figures have been released so far! I count 9 different Iron Man figures in my collection right now, with the Special Edition and Mark V on the way. Most normal people would say that the Mark 3, 4, and 6 lack a lot of costume variation.

he wants one to display on the rock pedestal and one to display with Thor. The helm feels like a strong breeze could break it.

Right a BD look would be cool. I don't know if we'll see too many major changes to his outfit in the movies.

Luis this is exactly why. Need one to go with the rock.
