finally picked a pose for my Thor until I get my helmet. I painted the chain-mail a much more silver color with some gloss. I also glossed over the forearm guards and the "grey" parts on the shin guards and the thing that wraps around his leg

you should post pics of the mods you made (with decent lighting please ;) )

will do once I can get some good sunlight. It's been pretty cloudy recently and with the holidays and immediate birthdays, I haven't had the time to sit down and try to get the best that my skills can get me.

Plus, I'm not that great of a photographer. not like you Nick :wink1:

Who interestingly enough is putting into Miley Cyrus. Just a little useless information for you.

Huh?

Why thank you kind sir! I await your photos!

So many figures on the way in 2012 i'm contemplating on passing on Avengers Thor. So far I think it's fair to say he will be sleeveless with much longer hair . I think Modern Captain America and maybe HawkEye may prove more interesting as the current movie Thor Rocks enough to bypass a new version so similar to the current one. And of course an HT Hulk would be a must get even if I think the actor chosen imo was bad casting.

Cool. I recently got a Machiko figure and it's incredibly awesome. Having a few different heads to plop onto the body would be neato. Any suggestions for other heads? Preferably ones that I can get for cheap.

Also, (and I know I'm firmly in off-topic territory now, so apologies) do you have any pointers on attaching the scabbard to the tiny, fiddly little chains? I've assembled everything else without breaking anything but I'm skeered of those tiny little chains.

I used parts of the twisties that were in Machiko's packaging. Just cut one of them up into 2 small pieces, fold them into a little circle and attach them to the chains. You can attach the scabbard to the twisties and you should be done.

It's hardly noticeable and it's a great way to keep the scabbard removable. :)

Ahhh. Nice. I'll give that a try. I did something similar with the little blue knife-things. 'cept I cut up an ornament hook. Shoulda thought about that for the scabbard as well.
Thanks!

You're very welcome! :duff

I didn't even attach the little blue knives. I tried, but I gave up after a while :lol
It isn't like they are a necessity either. She's got enough weapons. :lol

:lol Indeed!

Who's head is that on the Machiko figure's body?
Excellent photos, btw. An interesting background goes a long way!

Thanks ! It's the head of Abigail Whistler from Hot Toys Blade . It was actually 3rd place winner in the Poppy awards for best female figure of the year of 2010 (HT Black Widow was #1 and Sarah Connor # 2). You should be able to find the headsculpt on Ebay. I was thinking of using HT Resident Evil Alice (Milla Jovovich) but her hair is too short for an Asgardian war goddess .

When a non toy collector sees my shelf of Hot Toys the thing that impresses them most is Thor's metal hammer, it happens everytime, they pick it up and go "Oooh".

If I let them touch them that is.

Haha I dont have a Thor figure but I always wondered about that, it looks like a very impressive piece. I hope the Avengers Thor has it too!

Yeah Mjolnir really does sorta "make" the figure. When I first decanted Thor, I was like "oh hey, he's pretty cool!" Then when I got to The Hammar I was like "zomg that's awsim! RUUUNZ! Metalz!!!"
;)

I may be one of a few who don't particularly like this figure. First of all, I loved the movie, but the costume is something to be desired. I don't have a problem with the cape and tunic, but I'm just not diggin the "pants". I call them "pants" because that's what they look like. And Thor doesn't wear pants. He wears, what, blue leggings? tights? something more form fitting. Perhaps his leggings should have matched his "arms". I've seen some Thor concepts that show that chain-mail look. Real cool! Secondly, the boots just don't look right. I wished that they could have come up with something that looked like the comic, maybe a little more sleek. Hopefully we'll get to see a more improved look in the upcoming AVENGERS movie (fingers crossed). And then there's the Helmet. Though we all know they couldn't give him a spiked helmet with wings (as we're accustomed to in the comics), cuz that would look downright silly. This helmet isn't bad, but it's not great either. It looks big and should be more closer to the face, like Odin's. Now that is a great looking helmet. Hopefully they will improve this too. We'll see. Anyway, that is just my two cents.

I was very disappointed with Thor. HT obviously rushed it..just not "there" in several categories. Hammer was awesome, thoiugh.

Yeah I kind of agree, but I think the hair bothers me more. It just looks so pretty boy. When you are used to Thor in the comics it doesnt really fit but the cast could have been a lot worse so not all bad. I did like the movie but yes when you are a huge fan, the small things do seem to annoy you more..

To each his own but it still surprises me that people slag off this figure so much, he was what got me into serious Hot Toys collecting and I still love him, he's a great figure IMO and one of my favourites to pose and fiddle around with. Plus his cape and hammer are indeed awesome.
