Its called meeting demand. And at the moment, none of the aforementioned licenses have enough. HT is a business, not a charity.

Yes but stopping a line early is different than not making figures that are announced. That is just shady business practice.

Who says they can't make money on the other lines? They have already went away and got the licensees and image rights? All they have to do is make it limited to reduce Factory cost.

You all know how people act on smallish numbers they crap them selfs and buy even if they don't like the line just in case they can make a few bucks afterwards

You mean da scalpers:D

Trust me, I am a massive advocate of the Watchmen and Sucker Punch, and I would love to see both licenses continued and fleshed out. But you can bet your wet willy that if HT isn't making it, then demand is low.

And when you have a proto like Babydoll, that splits the fanbase down the middle, it's bound to have negative effects for the future of that license

You think Hot Toys is all-knowing and infallible?

I've seen the demand for MGS, it is there, Hot Toys needs to open their eyes to that

MGS hasn't even been cancelled though. you're acting as if the line has just been abandoned and there is absolutely no evidence at all for that :dunno if it can make money now, it can make money later. with so many surefire money-making licenses already in their busy schedule, there's no reason to force and squeeze MGS into that.

^ I guess as more time goes by with zero updates from Hot Toys it leads to that assumption, as you said they've got their sure-fire money making licenses, but they'll still have them next year and their trend suggests they do multiple versions and remakes of them again while still not tackling licenses like MGS which were announced more than a whole year ago.

The demand is definitely there for Metal Gear Solid but there is no rush to get them out.

I don't think the demand is there for Sucker Punch or Green Lantern. Just because a few (if even) hunded people say they would buy it, doesn't mean the profit margin for HT to produce them would be large enough or comparable to their other lines.

I'm surprised they aren't pumping out more Pirates figures since Jack seems to be doing well but I'm sure they will come eventually. I don't even know what to think about X-Men First Class anymore but chances they do the one character I want are so slim I don't even care anymore. :lol

^ i do care & i do still want, thats my problem :lol

I added it up, the amount of figures i want to buy from MGS, X-Men, Sucker Punch, GL and some others adds up to around $9000 :horror

You mentioned that a few hundred, if even will buy SP, but there's no rule that says HT has to make 5000 of them.

If they think the demand isn't as high as others then it's ridiculously simple... Make less of them.

Enough for the estimated demand, that way they earn money from them the license and produced figures without making too much to lose money from them, thats a win for HT and win for customers: WIN/WIN.

Yes there is.

Say, you run a pizza restaurant, and someone comes in and says, "I want to order 500 pizzas, what's the best price you can give me?" And you say "$8" and they say "Okay, do it". . . and you go to the dough factory and you buy 500 pizzas worth of dough, and you go to the sauce factory and buy 500 pizzas worth of sauce, and you go to the cheese factory and buy 500 pizzas worth of cheese, and you hire a bunch of staff to make 500 pizzas, and you're making pizzas, and you've already made 200, and this person comes back in and says "Actually, I only need 250".

What do you tell this person?

you know when you put your argument like that, it just seems nuts. before i understood your sentiment slightly, that HT should if they can do more interesting and varied things, but your last post was instrumental in showing me how in today's economy that makes very little sense :lol

enough for the estimated demand... but if the demand isn't as high as another figure they could release, they make less money. you agree with that at least, right? HT is now a much bigger company than a few years ago. bottom line is ... the bottom line. maximizing profits. sadly, making customers happy, even individuals who are willing to pay $9000 for less popular lines, isn't in their agenda anymore.

it really isn't as simple as you seem to think. the cost of producing an item decreases as the total number of items you produce increases. that's a basic economic/manufacturing principle. so anything that sells more will be much more profitable per item than something that sells less. simples.

i think maybe you should look into investing that $9000 into getting some customs made. that's the only way you're gonna see an outcome you like here. HT can not function for the whims of the few.

I bet G.I Joe figures don't sell as well as Star Wars, but they make them :dunno

and i bet batman won't sell as well as HT's star wars line. your argument suggests to me that you think we're saying that companies should only have one most profitable license? no-one is saying that at all. it's ludicrous to suggest all of HT's licenses are equally lucrative. there's a scale of their best earners, and sadly sucker punch must be near the bottom sales-wise. but i'd love to see the world as you do for one day - must be enigmatically uncomplicated.

My twin brother ordered a BabyDoll off SideShow yesterday.I had ordered Babydoll and Amber when they were 1st put up for pre-order.Now we get an email from SSC that we have to pay for the non refundable deposit.
He's gonna pay it NOT ME!!!!

I am glad they don't put everything I'd like out at the same time. I wouldn't be able to afford any of it if they did that.
I think what's tricky about this is for a property like Sucker Punch, many would like the whole package, all five girls, are none. I once had Sideshow's three Reservoir Dogs figures on preorder, Mr. Orange, Mr. Blonde and Mr. White. I cancelled that order when there was no information on getting Mr. Brown, Mr. Blue and Mr. Pink. Well, it was a package deal. I wouldn't to recreate the opening of the film where they are walking down the street together. I went to Comic-Con and asked about it and they acted like I was the only one who cared. Knowing I was not going to be satisfied with those figures, especially sans the Steve Buscemi figure I might as well not get them.
Maybe HT needs to use something like kickstarter.com to gauge interest. I would have totally bought those Reservoir Dogs if I thought I'd get the whole set.
There are a lot of movies where if they put out one maybe two figures they could be done and people would be satisfied. For Captain America: The First Avenger if all we saw was Cap and Red Skull, no one would cry about missed opportunities.

On the one he ordered or the two you ordered too?

I have Babydoll and Amber on order I just hope the other girls gets released as well.

I wouldn't get your hopes up or hold your breath... with their track record, i would say it's quite crazy to think they would release all of them... :/

You both use the same account?

That's the only way i think of them justifying it havine two Babydolls on order and thus the NRD

They announced it as 'coming soon' at the end of 2010.

That to me say it's long overdue.
Hey it took Spiderman well over a year to reach our grubby hands so MSG can't be that far away.I wouldn't be surprised if we see something by the time SDCC is around.I think so anyway!:wink1:

I'd be happy to see MSG at SDCC but I'd hope that there would be more new lines they would be showcasing rather than licenses they announced two years ago :(
