Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

I always buy from them. Get amazing deals often. They sell a lot of different things, so they don't know much about the value of Hot Toys.

Figures always come fine. Sometimes they were figures that were opened for display use, and if it bothers me enough I can return it with no hassle and no cost to me. Boxes may be a little scuffed up, but I have also gotten a few pristine ones from them.

The email states that if you placed your order before 3/19 you will be in the first shipment.

I ordered mine the day it went up so I guess I'm in the first shipment!

Looks good except for the head/neck joint. Even though I like the Tobey sculpt I think it was a mistake to try and make this work with a swappable portrait. Should've been made just like the red and blue.

With Hot Toys, first batch isn't always a good thing. Still, I'll have my fingers crossed for all you guys :D

I can understand why they didn't do this for the red and blue costume. Since this is black, the seam between the masked head and the neck will blend in more. On red and blue would have been way more obvious

That may be the only saving grace here. I still really like the way the R&B one was done wished HT did this the same.

Am I passing on this one? No way!

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

What they could have done is, given us the Parker head and the upper shirt of the black costume so we could build our own Parker/changing figure

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

I think it looks as good as the red/blue spidey, but black!

take my money SS and deliver him unto me!

Strange they would announce this, were are the pics from Hong Kong?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

I was promised I was done with this but no one will let this be.

:gah:

It it not the angle, the body is completely different, if anyone on this board thinks otherwise then I challenge any of you on the board to do the pose like the one on the building.

Maybe that is photoshopped, I dont know but a figure should look normal just standing, it should not have to be posed in weird positions to look acceptable, so it can hide the flaws. For example, 89 batman looks fine standing straight, but the spiderman figure looks so big and bulky to me just standing, well that's my opinion.

When I opened the box up of this figure I was like WTF?

Yes you are right they did a fantasic job on the costume and yes I agree the plastic boots would suck and webbing also, but I rather that than some big body builder with thunder thighs and broad shoulders in a Spiderman suit, because it does not look like Spiderman.

What also pisses me off with this board is that you think I am trying to put pictures of the black spiderman down. The black spiderman looks awesome and I hope the black one turns out to look like that and not like the last one, which is the only thing I said, which started this mess.

Nevertheless, I respect people who like the body and like the figure for what it is. However, it seems none of you respect me for my opinion that I think the figure sucks.

:(

Wow sorry to dig this up but didnt see your reply.

I fully and totally respect your opinion.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

First of all I would like to thank you lavoi for not abusing me like many of you have because I said hot toys deceived us.

TBH it is a good figure for professionals like you that are really good at posing and are able to hide flaws. Like I saw my friends ones and they said yeah it only looks good if you can pose it well, it does not look good standing straight.

I notice how you bend the shoulders back to make the arms not bulky and make shoulders appear less broad, because it is not just that the thighs are too big, the shoulders are too broad and arms are to bulky. Nevertheless, you do a great job at lessening that with your posing!

:clap

I tried to do the crouch position to hide the thunder thighs like u but was unable to do it because it was very restrictive and the costume began to stretch.

:gah:

For people like me that just want to keep a basic standing pose, the figure looks horrible and looks like a big body builder in a Spiderman suit.

Overall it is not a bad figure it just has IMO a bad body and because of that, I hate it overall.

This is an image promoted by hot toys for Spiderman 3 before the actual figure came out. That body looks nothing like the final product, I don't know maybe that is photoshopped? Look how nice and slim it looks and look at the shoulders, they are not big and broad.

I wanted mine to look like that instead I end up with a figure like this with broad shoulders and big thunder thighs. I can not pose a figure like this and make it look good like you guys because I am too scared of breaking the thing because of how restrictive the costume and the joints are and I am not talented enough to even be able to achieve such good poses like a lot people on here.

And like I said, it's posing, LOOK at how the top picture has the arms posed, and look at the angle the pic is taken.

The bottom pic is just disgustingly posed, look at his arms, theyre folded outward, no one has their triceps at the side of their body, theyre at the back of your arms. You cant see them if someone is standing normally.

I rest my case, keep to your opinion. It's yours to keep.

Than I challenge you to pose it like the one on the building. Why cant you accept that it is too big and muscular, every review I read says this, so do some of the people on this board.

Its not necessarily a bad thing unless your like me and prefer your figures to have basic poses and to look like the way they are promoted to look in pictures.

I love all the poses you guys do on this site but doing dynamic poses is not something I am interested in.

The dynamic poses hides the flaws like big thunder thighs and broad shoulders.

The only way you will be able to pose it like the one on the building is if your figure looks like this.

You will not be able to pose it like the one on the building if it looks like this.

Can you please let this go and can we talk about more important things about when this figure is going to be released.

I hope the packaging is the same design as the red Spidey, but Black. Or maybe even partially red and black
