Just got a notice from amiami says the release date is changed to late march from late feb. (dunno why SSC says June)

I feel like I keep saying the same thing, but here it goes again:

I knew before that it's common for Hot Toys to be delayed. I preordered the Amazing figure as my first Hot Toy because Spider-Man is my favorite, and I loved the new movie and suit. I was fully prepared to wait a while.

These delays are starting to piss me off though. June? That means I'll get it a full year after I ordered it. Maybe I don't have room to complain, since this is my first rodeo, but my goodness. If they couldn't get the figure out by December, why did they say they were going to? This is the last time I buy from Hot Toys, or at least, this is the last time I preorder. I understand what some people say now about Hot Toys. They delay their crap because they can; people will continue to preorder their products and simply put, Hot Toys can get away with disappointing their buyers.

In the future, I'll wait to buy until the figure is available. But saying that, I probably won't be buying from them again anyway. All they do is Iron Man and Predator, it seems.

Spidey will be your first 'Hot Toy' figure?

Yeah, you may be frustrated now, & say you're not going to buy from them again, but then you'll get Spidey, be ridiculously impressed, slap yourself for not collecting HT figures sooner, & forget everything you said :lol

I'm sure I'll be super excited and pleased with the figure. And it's like I said, if I do end up buying from them again, I won't be preordering. It's just not worth it for me. If I see a figure they've made that I'm impressed with and want, I'll get it, but as I was saying, it seems they generally do the same things, the same characters, over and over and over again. I'll probably just stick to Enterbay and Medicom.

I feel like Medicom gets quite a bit of hate from people, but I have their Jack Shephard figure from Lost, and he's one of my favorite figures I have. It's a pretty standard figure, and I bought it from someone for a lot less than Medicom would have charged when it was brand new. All in all, for what I paid for him, I think he turned out to be a great value. But I'm getting off topic.

Ha I get that delay's suck but try waiting the like what 2 years those of us had to with the Lightcycle. It did totally suck but the figure turned it great and I'm sure the delay on this will only be a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the wait and see with medicom (they got a lot of things right on that figure) so they could check it out, compare and see how they could I prove their own figure

It's just, the thing that pisses me off is that they set a release date (or at least, month), and then they don't stick to it. It's not like these release dates get pushed back months in advance, either. Wasn't the first delay announced in like, November, when the figure was supposed to be out in December? Then we made it to February before hearing that it wasn't coming out during that month.

A good rule of thumb for anybody, in any situation, is to not set a deadline for yourself that you can't stick to. It's just irresponsible.

But anyway, I'll be done whining about this now. I don't want a reputation as the resident complainer, especially since I'm so new here. It's just that I don't know anybody in person who collects figures, so I can't talk to others about this stuff. The people I know just don't care, which is fine.

I used to get stressy over missed deadlines but after 10 years or so of collecting you don't really notice it anymore.

I guess having a continuous stream of pre-orders with a variety of manufacturers, eBay sellers and retailers helps. There's always something turning up in the post :)

I like to think most delays are due to trying to improve the end product. Rather have it 90-100% right than 60-70%

It would be nice if companies updated us as to the reasons for delays (Big Chief Studios have been pretty good explaining the difficulties they have had with the production of their Dr Who figures).

Anyhow, it'll come, we'll love it, (or not), and be in to the next one!

I think you're right about having multiple preorders helping with the waiting. Like I've said, this is my first Hot Toy and I'm just anxious to hold the damn thing and see it in person. I've seen Hot Toy products at Forbidden Planet behind the glass, but they always display characters/figures I don't care about. So yes, it's just the desire to experience my first Hot Toy that is really making me impatient.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of him in hand Web_Head91
Getting you're first Hot Toys figure is a great moment.
I started collecting 3 3/4" SW figures then picked up a few 12" Hasbro's. they were OK but just toys.
Then I discovered Sideshow and got my Jedi Luke. Wow! I was blown away.
A few years and several hundred 1:6 figure later it's easy to get jaded. But every now and then a figure really impresses and you get that tingle again...... Hang on. We're talking about class "A" drugs right? Oh sorry. Wrong forum :p

Damn isnt that a year after the movie? Does Hot toys typically try to get the figure out by the movie's release? I'm only asking because Man of Steel

I'm sure they would like to, but I'm not convinced they often try very hard. Mark VII is coming out over a year after Avengers was first released.

I'll definitely let you all know! I don't know if this is obnoxious or not, but I have a youtube channel and I'll definitely do a video review (with my awful camera) when I get the figure. I'll post it here, unless that's frowned upon in this forum. Either way, I'll be excited to talk about the figure with you all when I get it.

HT has gotten a lot like sideshow in terms of release for the hot ticket items. So we'll see Man of Steel (and Superman in general) related items go up for PO when the movie it's closer to release then another 6 months or so for the figure to actually be released to our grubby little hands. DC Collectibles are the only ones who've got MoS stuff up for PO to be released by the time the movie hits theaters. Other companies like NECA, SS, Mattel and HT seem to be waiting to ride the hype wave when the movie draws nearer

I get your frustration and I think most of us have gone through that once or twice before but you get used to it and when you have tons of POs, like someone mentioned before, you welcome the delays so you can make sure you have that $$$ so you don't have to cancel. I'm already dreading paying for my Nathan Drake PF and that's not due out until September :lol

With this being your first HT figure I bet you're going to be blown away and get hooked and start buying even the ones you don't really want and go through buyers remorse like we all do at one point and then settle on the core things you want to collect

From my experience they didn't even get the figures up for order until after the DVD released.

Only with recent trending movies have they been getting them up for order just after the cinema release. They've even got two figures from IM3 up for order and that is minths away from cinema release. I half expect them to announce figures from IM4 before the movie ges into production :lol

Yeah but they've got others out before the DVD even hit.

Hah! You're probably right. I was being a bit rash when I said I'd never buy from Hot Toys again. But I am being completely serious when I say I'm not preordering from them again. Not when I know delays and crap are going to happen.

I did preorder the Enterbay Django though, and I've been told Enterbay gets things out quickly lately after putting them up for preorder. Plus, with the Neca figures being canceled, there was no way I was going to miss out on Enterbay's Django. I'm an immigrant to the UK. I'm still waiting for my spouse visa, and I've been waiting ever since June. Until I get my visa, I can't get a job. I'm using money from my savings to pay for these two figures. Bad, I know, but I think I deserve them after moving to another country, don't you? :wink1:

Once I get a job, I will have reason to be fearful of myself. I'll probably go crazy buying Enterbay and Hot Toys. I definitely want to get on that Enterbay Elvis they came out with a while ago...and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Captain America Hot Toy...
