They should have just had an angry and hateful Peter Parker and a nasty, arrogant Spider-Man.

No need to change the style or color of his hair. No dance numbers either.

I don't see how a dud of a movie ruins the other ones that came before it.

Agreed, SM3 doesn't affect the previus to me

so a douchey, skateboarding, hipster bro Peter with fingerless gloves and no respect (doesn't even respect the dying last words of his girlfriend's father) is cool, but a a douchey, strutting, emo Peter who wears all black and has no respect is fine?

I don't get that one.

He's a teenager of 2013. That's how they dress and look now.

The promise being broken is kinda douchy, but in retrospect he had every reason to break it.

His Parent's are dead, his Uncle's dead, his only other father figure is dead, he's got a job where he gets his *** kicked and is regarded as an outcast as school.
Gwen is one of the only good thing really going on in his life, he cares for her, probably loves her and was forced to make a promise that he never wanted to make because the guy was dying, he wasn't exaclty gonna lie to him and say "no i'm gonna keep seeing her" it was only after his Aunt told him that he had a right to be happy that he decided, 'yeah i'm gonna be with her, i deserve some happiness'

I think a lot of people are forgetting that in 3, Peter is wearing the symbiote full time, and its ****ing with him. Thats why he's a douche and cocky and acting like a ***** constantly. Tobey's acting was fine for portraying how the symbiote was trying to take over Peter's body/life.

I'm not making excuses for SM3, because it was a piece of **** because of the fight between Avi Arad and Sam Raimi, but Tobey did a great job playing someone being forced to the other end of their emotional spectrum by an alien life form.

That was the problem to me. The symbiote should've made him an angry dude with the power to **** people up and no responsibility, but instead he became a **** that danced, thought he was god's gift to women and was more of an inconveiance to people than a dangerous psycho

Raimi tried to put too much quirky comedy into the entire series instead of taking it seriously on its own terms. So for me personally a lot of his trilogy came across as cheesy, the second one is the best by far. I love Raimi but I didn't think he was right for Spidey.

The Raimi films were mediocre, and so far so is the new series.

(but i do like the direction they're heading)

Spider-Man without quirky quips and comedy wouldn't be a Spider-Man film. What ruined the trilogy was Avi Arad demanding that Venom be put into the third film, and not letting Raimi finish the Goblin arc like he wanted to. Instead we got three **** enemies crammed into the third film for profit purposes.

Yeah, I agree to an extent.

The Ditko years had a lot of quirkiness in there, & I believe those were the years that Raimi drew a lot inspiration from if I'm not mistaken, as well.

While S3 does deserve some of the **** it cops, there's still some great moments in there too. Not a fan of Topher Grace though - period. I do like him more than Ryan Reynolds at least. :lecture :lol

Quirky quips yes. Cheesy acting no. I swear Toby spent most of the movies acting "nice". The "I'm so sweet and nice" performance annoyed the hell out of me in the first one, by the time we got to emo Toby in part 3, I'd had enough.
First one=Poor, just really bland and safe. The Goblin was the biggest disappointment for me, Defoe was brilliant, but the look of the thing was Power Rangers.
Second=Saved by Doc Oc/Molina who was brilliant and some great FX. Felt more like a Raimi movie to me, the origin Doc Oc sequence was 100% Raimi and awesome.
Third=Awful, just all round awful. A couple of ok performances, a load of cheese and a terribly wasted opportunity.

IMO.

I think this is pretty much exactly how I feel about the raimi films. Doc ock origin I take it you mean after his accident and the tentacles come to life and kill the doctors working on him? Yeah, that felt 100% raimi.

I enjoyed the Spider-Man series with young Tobey, but just felt like they ruined it by cramming so many villains into it.

Pretty awesome Amazing Spider-Man cosplayer costume at 2:49

I enjoyed the first 2 Raimi films but the third was complete garbage! Terrible screenplay, poor execution, and just plan crammed and rushed. Bad ending of what should've been a great send off movie. Oh well. :(

Looking forward to ASM2.... But first, I want the figure from this film released already!
