Now just hold on a second. :panic:

I was "of the right age", I think, when Raimi's movies were out, and while I loved them at the time, I've since become a comic book reader and I've learned a lot more about Spider-Man. As a Spider-Man fan now, I hate those movies. Reading the Amazing Spider-Man, dabbling in some other comic incarnations of him, watching the 90's cartoon (and that super old cartoon from, what, the 60's?), playing so many different Spider-Man video games that I've lost count...it's all made me realize how awful those films are.

I don't pretend to be a super fan, or even a life long fan. But when I get interested in something, I have a tendency to become obsessed, and I absorb anything and everything that I can that is related to the obsession. So at the risk of sounding arrogant, I think I know my stuff when it comes to Spider-Man (more so than a casual fan, anyway). So my theory is that it's not so much an age thing, but an interest/knowledge thing. A lot of the people I know who like Raimi's films haven't read the comics, and don't know anything about Spider-Man other than what they've seen in those three films.

Many of the people I know who are actually into Spider-Man, though, dislike Raimi's films. I'd definitely say that the less someone knows about Spider-Man, the more likely they are to enjoy Raimi's films.

Goodness, I can't wait until this figure arrives so we can have something new to talk about haha.

So your saying that people who like Raimi's movies are not knowledgable about Spiderman?

STAND BACK AND WAIT FOR THE TIDE OF FURY!!!!
:lol

I never read spiderman as a kid, in the 80's, but I though Peter was supposed to be a science nerd not a loser. Some people may say its the same thing but I always saw a loser as a druggy or the kids who skip class and get high all the time. Didn't Pete make his own web shooters in the comic? Didn't he come up with the webbing compound? That doesn't sound like a loser to me.

I like both sets of films and I can admit I was hesitant about the ASM design before the movies. I think the only thing I really didn't like was the trainers. I mean how could his feet stick to the wall with an inch of rubber on his soles?

Lets stop discussing the reality issues involved in a guy who has spider abilities and climbs walls and discuss this instead...

Do I see what I think I see on the left image?

EDIT:

Also, let's not bring "comic accuracy" or fidelity into this. Whether you've read them or not, there's no way Webb's is any closer to the character than Raimi's. If anything Raimi's embodies the 60s/70s version more than Webb's who is more or less it's own "modern", "ultimate" interpretation.

Literally the only thing the Webb version has over the Raimi version is "OH MY GOD, HE BUILT HIS OWN WEB SHOOTERS". That's it, and a petty one at that.

STOP!!!! :lol

That costume does not "get it done". Even the Rami costume looked better. Geez, what is Electro going to end up looking like?

People have to realize I don't think Raimi put a patent on the suit, so anyone could probably use the idea, just not to do an exact duplication of the suit or Webb asked Raimi for permission to use the design of Raimi's Toby Maguire suit, but do it as a suit to fit Garfield's body.

I know that the concept for the ASM sequel has to be to get it back to the comic book form again or at least to reference the Ultimate Spider-man series which it does look like with the eyelids in this version as opposed to Raimi's suit's eyelids.

I'm thinking they might've have used Raimi's design to save on costs and materials, so they didn't have to come up with completely new design like they did for The ASM. It takes a lot of time and effort to design a new supero hero suit every movie, so I think they took the easy route this time.

Now I could be wrong, but it just seems to much of a coincidence how the webbing and texture of the pattern in the blue parts of the outfit look spot on to Toby's outfit. :lecture
