Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

2011 Mark VI: $204 shipped.
2012 Mark VII (non-exclusive): $242 shipped.

$38 pricehike in one year, and at the same time a reduction in accessories (Mark VI had two bases) yet appears will suffer from all of the same issues that plagued the Mark VI (frail plastic parts, skinny neck, can't do the repulsion pose). If they'd said the body was more durable (like Berserker Predator instead of a hollow piece of cheap plastic) and the swap-out plates were die-cast, I'd sell my Mark VI and replace him with the Mark VII. But assuming nothing's changed, I'm not interested. The Mark VI is the most unenjoyable figure I've ever owned; you can't even look at him without something falling off.

Deja Vu!

I remember this when Sideshow raised it's Star Wars 1/6th figures from $49 to $59.... and then again to $65... then $79... then, well, you get the idea.

Prices have been going up and up and up since the beginning. That will never change. By the time they price you out, they will find something else to make it seem worth your while... like "talking action" and "real hair" and "light-up features"....

Talking action will make me not want to buy their toys.

TDKR Bane with "talking action", please.

I'm a firm believe that SWAT Jim Gordon should have a ripcord on his back that when pulled makes him say, "We gotcha you sonova_____!".

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

i think people are forgetting prices for EVERY toy line are up. its not just HT figures that are suffering higher prices. its not a cheap hobby to collect anymore and at the level where you where already paying 200 plus dollars for one figure its just that much more noticeable

The rendering by Legacy Effects is reflective of the final movie model (though more details on the 1:1 costume) and also used for the 1:2 scale SSC/LE statue....

HT should have gone all-the-way for accuracy.... then again they may save it for the 1/4 scale.

and the statue is also inaccurate to what was in the movie, same with a kotobukiya pvc one and on a lower scale every Hasbro mark VII. they all have the same issue, they followed whatever they where given to produce their products to.
the rendering posted isn't reflective of what is in the final movie. you just have to pause a still of the movie at any place to see the differences

im not saying the HT is perfect (its not even the same as the picture they had on screen in the backstage photos for the the MK VII), im just saying that rendering isn't a prefect representation of the final movie. im sure there is inaccuracies in the HT since every IM figure they have released as had minor ones.

kinda funny to note that the same thing happening with IM 2, early mark VI toys had gold biceps instead of the silver that appeared in the movie.

I think I'm inclined to agree. If we're looking at 2 to 3 new suits introduced in Iron Man 3 and then another 1 or 2 in Avengers 2 then I'm going to be inclined to abandon the idea of a "complete" Hall of Armor. I'm sure there will be way too many other licenses that I'll want to suck my money up. Heck, Batman and Joker DX 3.0's need some sucker to buy right? Plus those inevitable 1:2 scale figures will be hard to resist! :lol

Ordered and war monger. With my my mk2/6 and war machine. I can now pass or one a year. Same goes with sw.

Pretty sure that is the message HT is sending to everyone that paid 225 for this fig :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

It wouldn't hurt if all those up in arms over the price increase DID send an email to Hot Toys. I just did.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

The Avengers are probably the last bunch of HT figures I'll bite on without thought of price. This hobby is slowly pushing me away with the inflated costs per figure.

Here's an interesting question to think about:

How much is Sideshow marking up these Hot Toys figures?? Seriously, if places like BBTS (who buys them from Sideshow) sell them for 10% less than Sideshow then clearly Sideshow has a substantial margin on these figures... that they themselves don't pay a penny to produce.

I'm thinking Sideshow is making at least $50-$100 pure profit off of this $250 MKVII figure. And as the sole NA distributor of HT figures, perhaps their margin is a major reason for these price hikes. Everyone is quick to point the finger at Hot Toys for the prices, but retailers (who, again, get the figures from Sideshow) continually sell them for less than Sideshow's price. And Sideshow basically has a monopoly on HT figures in NA now. This is growing increasingly suspicious.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

This will be my first and last Iron Man figure I purchase. I want the free shipping so I will pass on the EX. HT Prices is driving me away from this hobby and will cancel my batpod for this figure :monkey2

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Fyi the 3.75 are now priced at $10. At target and walmart.

I just happened to luck out and more point's hit today. Then again ironman just got $1,600 this year alone. Hmm may just get a 1/1 and be done with it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

yeah I don't know why everyone goes by Sideshows price, every other site is cheaper than them :dunno
