Why has the discussion on price guessing for the BD ended up in here?

Let's get back to the standard MK VII discussion in here and leave the BD to it's own thread.

As nice as this one look, anyone thinks the paint job doesn't have that brushed steel metal look like the movie? This one, and the other mark vi and IV looks like glossy car paint job. The only armor that have successfully replicate it is the mark VII BD IMO.

Which is why it's such an epic piece :lecture

They really seem to struggle with getting a metal look from the hot rod red. I don't have a problem with the silver or gold paint, but the red is obnoxiously glossy.

The light source affects how glossy the armours look. Under straight lights the original suits look glossy too. Even the Mark I had its glazed parts.

But I guess ultimately it is the CGI people who make things appear the way they do, glossy or brushed.

Although I would have liked the Mark III kind of look in the armours that followed, but I don't know if was something possible with the overall quality upgradation of the figures. Or, if it would have affected their shelf presence.

So, if I were to buy my first and only Iron Man, would this be the one to buy?

I'm basically interested in a "definitive" version. I prefer the classic red and gold and the circular chest arc reactor. Is this the one I should gun for or is there a better one coming along, or an older one that's just as good?

Not interested in Power Poses, Die Cast, variant suits, etc. I just want one great Hot Toys Iron Man figure to represent the character in my collection. I've only collected Batman, Terminator, Robocop, Spider-Man etc. but I feel like I should have Stark in there somewhere as I'm getting hyped up for Iron Man 3.

Then it's the Mark IV or VII.

This one for sure. Unless of course you really prefer the Mark IV design and want to pay $350 for it.

This one is coming out in a months time, what better than to just pick this one up? :)

You pay less than the Mark IV and get more included in with the figure.

Best option is to get the Mark VII or wait and hope for a MkIII 2.0. Personally, I feel the Mark IV is the best, but you have the panty fade issue. The Mark VI is good too, but has the triangle chest reactor.

The Mark VII without the weapon pods bears a certain resemblance to the Mark III perhaps due to it's relationship with the Mark III concept from the first film. The Mark VII has that same sleek aeronautic aesthetic rather than the angular muscular look the VI and IV have.

:exactly::goodpost: I'm on same boat. :exactly:

I would also say get the Mark VII, but my reason is different. I love my Mark VI and like the triangle chest piece as it is now unique, but I wanted a circle chest piece as well and I have no interest to get the Mark IV or SP Mark IV because: 1) It's very expensive! 2) Look too close to the Mark VI. I ended up just getting Tony HS and shades instead.

Given the recent pictures showing all the accessories, I would say this is a great buy with or without my Mark VI.

I am also waiting for the diecast Mark III and after that I'm done. No IM3 or AVG2 for me.

It's been a long, tiresome and never ending debate during and after the releases of both Mark 4 and 6 as to which of them is the definitive armor...mark 4 WAS my first but I now own just the mark 6 with bd

mark 6 was used in both the iron man 2 finale and the first half of the avengers, so i based my conclusion to the usage of that armor in the movies

it is now waiting for mark 7 to arrive

I think the concept of a "definitive" look for Iron Man is not conducive to the concept of Iron Man. Particularly as depicted in film. In just the first film he has three distinctly difference looks and that has been carried over to every film he's been in.

I just want this damn thing to get released already!! It looks awesome in the pics and is awesome in the movies. I want mine in hand though....:impatient:
